"It's Complicated"

Chapter 1

Present day (1 month later)

(Skylar's POV)

"HEY SKYLAR WAIT UP!" Is what I hear walking out of school. I turn around to see one of my best friends Brook running up to me at full speed.

"Woah Brooklyn calm down what's wrong?" I asked her after she stopped next to me.

"I want-ed t-to invite you to my party this Saturday" she panted.

"Sure but you know you could've just texted me right", I laughed.

"My mom took away my phone ugh and I've gotta run now byee, oh and Cole is invited to." She winked. If you're wondering why she winked, it's because Cole is my best guy friend and also my long time crush. The only people I've told this to are Brook, Jessy, and Avery. Drew, Cole's brother figured yet it out a while ago. I guess he noticed the way I looked at Cole. Drew isn't so happy with the fact that I want Cole and not him. He flirts with me every chance he gets but of course all I notice is Cole.

While I was at home I realized that I had absolutely nothing to wear to the party so I texted Jess and Avery to meet me at the mall to get outfits.

So here we are in the store and I've gotten my outfit and according to my two friends, it's "sexy enough" for Cole. I got black skinny jeans and paired it with a metallic black flowy tank. Of course I wouldn't forget the shoes, red pumps. "So you ready for the party?" Avery smirked as if asking if I'm ready to make a move on Cole.

"Aye don't hurry her up Ave, give her some time." Jess said knowing what Avery meant.

"Don't worry he'll never think of me more than a friend." I was sad but I kinda had to face that fact.

"Oh shush you two are meant to be!" Avery yelled and I'm pretty sure everyone in the store heard us.

"Avery tone it down a bit." I whisper shouted. The last thing I need is for everyone to look at us like we're crazy in here.

"Fine." She pouted like a two year old. I laughed, I swear she acts like a 5 year old sometimes.

"So Sky, who's taking you to the party?"

Jess asked on our ride home.

"Uh you guys." I said stating the obvious.

"Um we might've already texted Cole telling him to pick you up and take you." Jess said carefully.

"Ugh of course you would but ok." I really didn't mind at all. Cole is my friend and it's not like anything is awkward between us.

While at home I got a text from Cole telling me he'll pick me up at 7 for the party and to have a good nights sleep. He's so sweet and that's why I like him so much with his dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Not to mention but he's also really tall while I stand way shorter than him but I guess that's a good thing. Right? I dozed off listening to music and thinking of him like always.
