"Yeah, and can I have the number 19?" I perused the menu and ordered a few Italian dishes from a local restaurant hoping Vince would like at least some of what I had ordered.
"Just drop it off at reception and they can deliver it" the less people that saw in this room, the better it was for our safety.
"Okay, thank you" I hung up.
As I was placing my phone down on my bed "I want to go out" I heard his deep voice rumble behind me.
I turned around, and stared at him. I was in my sweats and a white t-shirt and he was in a cotton chequed shirt and jeans like he had already made up his mind that he was definitely going to be leaving this motel.
I raised an eyebrow at him "Nope, that's not part of the rules. Even if I go with you and the two guards in the next room, its too risky when your trial date is so close" I shrugged my shoulder in a callous manner.
"I don't care. I want to go out. So either you come with me or I'm going alone but I am going" he spoke with a firm tone and looked at me dead in the eye then turned around with his back to me.
"Hey! You are not going anywhere, YOU HEAR ME!" I grabbed his forearm and tugged on it, hard.
He stopped and turned around to face me. He was like a wolf snarling at me, ready to pounce. But I was ready for him, come get me motherfucker, I thought as I levelled my angry stare at him, my arm still holding his forearm tightly.
As his grey eyes stared into my brown eyes with hostility and rage, I twisted his arm so fast and so hard that he was yelping as he was suddenly on the ground in pain.
That's right motherfucker, bow down to the queen I am!
But before I could smile or get too haughty, he grabbed my leg and yanked it sending me crashing to the ground, right next to him. He had such a strong grip that I tried to fight it on my way down but his hand didn't even flinch as he pulled me down.
I quickly bounced back up a few seconds after I hit the floor and was on my knees as I grabbed his head from behind and put it in a headlock so fast that he had no time to react. Half of his back was pressed into me and I could hear him struggling until he elbowed me in my stomach three times, making me let go of him and double over. I suddenly felt light-headed and sick.
I looked up a few seconds later, I clenched my teeth through the pain, ready to attack again. But he stood in front of me, angrily staring at me as his shoulders rose and fell with his heaving breaths.
All we did was stare at each other but neither one of us was backing down. It was then that I noticed the war waging in his eyes against himself. His stern expression had worn off and he was back to having no expression on his face. But his eyes showed his fight; the electricity in his eyes trying to fight the dead look. I saw it all. Maybe our grapple right now gave him the strength to fight that dead feeling inside of him and come out of his still states. If that was the case, that didn't bode well for me as I would have to be on guard a lot more.
We both backed away from each other, he walked past me to his room that was connected to mine but located at the very back so if anyone did break in they would have to get past me first to get to Vince. He slammed his bedroom door behind him and I stood there. Glad that he hadn't gone out but feeling uneasy at what I saw in his eyes.
Whatever I did, I would have to be careful.
The food had come and I now ate in silence. I kept peering up at his door after every few bites. I had knocked a few times but he had refused to get up and acknowledge my presence at the door. So I just hung on the door knob in the plastic bag what I had ordered on his behalf.
