Eventually everybody can see the world never gives you what you want. It is always something that gets in your way, it can be a string of missed opportunities or a long ass line at Starbucks, as you are trying to pick up your favorite tea and get to work at the same time, and it sucks to say that this was my exact predicament in this exact moment of my life. I tapped my heel excessively in an ever ending rhythm, checking my watch every so often, but enough to make me frustrated as I realized that time was moving fairly quick but the queue in front of me seemed to take forever.

I realized quickly that if I did not leave the queue at this exact moment I was going to be late to my job, my lovely, amazing, wonderful, peaceful, job. Yeah, I pulled that out of my ass, thank you for noticing. I checked the small watch that adorned my wrist, 7:38am, I had exactly 16 min to get to work. Fuck this, swinging my bag onto the crook of my elbow, I made my way out of the line which quickly ate up my space and turned around to go out the door. The skirt that I wore to do did nothing to prevent the cool air from hitting my legs, I shivered in delight, I loved this weather.

As I walked my phone started to buzz inside my purse, I paused in the middle of the sidewalk to fish it out of my mid-size leather bag, when suddenly I felt somebody bump into me. It was at that exact moment that my chest started to feel a little bit colder than the rest of my body. I closed my eyes in frustration, of course this would happen to be right now. I looked up to see who was the fucker that stained my shirt. I am meet with a suit, then a tie, and then wonderfully green-blue eyes, and last blond hair. I hear a chuckle, and its when I realize that it came from him that I shift my eyes quickly to his once again. I grow agitated when I notice a smirk in his lips.

"Oh, you think that this is funny?" My voice trembles as I say that, there is a reason I am a paralegal, and not a lawyer, I can't argue. I cry when I do, I have the heart of a bumblebee. "You asshat, first of all I am pretty sure that I am already late! Not only that, I can't stop my anywhere to fix this!" I stomp my heel on the floor as I say that, which makes my cheeks turn red as I realize that I am acting like a child.

"I am so sorry mam, I didn't mean no harm, it just- ", he begins his apology but I am not having it. I look at him with my angry face, which consists of my scrunching my eyebrows, and turn to leave. I hitch my bag tighter against me as I turn, fishing out my phone in the process, the call was from my boss, damn. I quickly called him back.

"Ah Indigo, thank you for getting back to me. I called you earlier to let you know that the power was knocked out of the office so we were going to be closed today as they repair things." He said, "In other words, you don't have to come in today!" He sounded pleased with himself as he said that.

"Oh, thank you sir for letting me know, I was just on my way over when somebody ran into me and spilled coffee all over my shirt." I explained as I weaved through the crowd, "Is there anything that you need me to do while we are out?" Although I hated my job, I loved it all the same, it was a love hate relationship.

"Oh no, no, no. You enjoy your day off, goodness knows that I don't give you enough of those." It sounded like he was shuffling though some paper work as he talked to me. "Well, Indigo, I have to go, as I said, enjoy your day off, see you tomorrow!" He closed the call. Poor guy, he was always working, I shook my head as I looked around for something to do.

First order of business, fix my outfit. I wasn't far from home, maybe one or two blocks. I tightened my grey coat around my chest to both hide the stain and provide heat and headed to my apartment.
