I'VE RECENTLY MOVED into Addison Apartments with my mother. We've just finished loading the rest of our boxes into our small apartment. I trudged into my room with a big box containing some essentials for my room. Kicking the door open, I drop the said box onto the floor and it made a loud thud with glass sounds clacking together. I huffed in exhaustion.

"Be careful with that box, Y/N! It contains items worth even more than our lives!"

I exhaled another deep sigh. I rolled my eyes and walked out of my room into the kitchen, where mother is.

"Sorry mother, I couldn't carry it longer. It was heavy."

Mother only gave me a look before continuing to decide where to place a framed picture of Jesus Christ.

"Since you have no friends, maybe try talking to the other people in this place. Lisa told me her son lives down in the basement with her. Maybe try talking to him."

"I thought you didn't like Lisa? Didn't you say she was, and I quote, an atheist that'll burn in hell!"

Mother gave me a side eye and shook her head.

"I told her we are living in the end of our days...Anyways, even so, she helped me pay for this apartment so I tolerate her. Plus, her positive aura is good for my mental health."

I snorted and left mother to do whatever she was doing. I don't want any part of it. I rather die than to have another bible studies session. I knew she was friends with Lisa, err acquaintances, but I didn't know she lived here too. Mother always tried to get me to talk to her son, though. We never went to the same school so I had no way of contacting him anyways. Plus, I suck at making friends so eh.

I opened the door and walked out. I sighed again while looking down the hall of the apartment doors. I don't feel like making friends today. Grumbling, I trekked down the halls and went straight into the elevators. I feel weird knocking on random people's doors. I guess I'll visit Lisa and her son Larry. I'll get that out of the way and then maybe I can go outside and take the bus to wonderland or some shit. I still have some money left, I think...

Looking at the buttons, I noticed you need a keycard to get down to the basement. I cursed under my breath and panicked a bit. I jabbed my thumb clicking the 3rd floor button. "Fucking hell" I mumbled. I see the elevator door open on the 4th floor. I stared at the glowing numbers above. "What the fuc-" Before I can finish, the doors open and I flinched a little. A shorter girl with two blue pigtails and a mask stepped in. Great, now it's going to be awkward. Fuck. The elevator doors closed again and went down to the 3rd floor. I shuffled in my spot a little, avoiding eye contact.

"Hey, I'm Sal."

Not a girl. Definitely not a girl. I turn my head and looked at him with a taken back face. Before I can respond, the doors opened. Sal stepped out first and I soon followed.

"I uh, I'm Y/n.."

Sal stared at me for a bit before tilting his head slightly.

"Why'd you look confused?"

Oh fuck he noticed.

"Well, if you want me to be honest I thought you were a girl at first."

I snorted and he chuckled. "I get that a lot" He said and I grinned. I opened my mouth to respond, but I heard someone call my name. I quickly looked back and saw Lisa waving over to me. Huh, I've only met her like two times how'd she knew how I look like? Oh god, does mother talk about me a lot? I walked over to her and from the corner of my eye I see Sal follow me too.

"Do you know her?"

He asked quietly and I nodded.

"Kind of...?"
