I saw one.

For the first time since I had become a hunter six months ago, I had finally found one. And a big one at that, He must be powerful and high ranking according to its markings on its side and the spot on its forehead.

I couldn't believe my luck.

An alpha or an beta.

It was too good to be true

I pinched myself just to be sure I was not dreaming and winced at the pain my fingers caused.

Awake.

I inched closer to my prey wanted to be closer to attack and watched it silently from the bush.

It was a beautiful creature I had to admit, with it's soft pointed face, lush long fur the color of a midnight sky. Even the way it walked was beautiful and graceful and powerful.

Daren was going to be so jelous. I, Alexa, caught a alpha male. The look on his face when I bring this good for nothing killer's carcaus home, well, lets just say I'm going to have a camra with me to immoralilize this moment.

That jerk thought he was soo good, well his time to shine was going to be over. A new super star was coming. One much better than that bastard will ever be.

I carfully drew my wepon, my favorite bow from behind me and set the arrow and slowly drew it back and waited. When hunting anything the first thing they teach you is patence and when to shoot. I waited till the perfect moment when I knew the beast would least expect it then realese the string catapulting the arrow at him ending its life before he could process what just happened.

I slowed my breathing and then realsed.

Twang.

The arrow flew through the arrow towards the unexpecting creature and punctured its side. It fell to the ground and lay there twitching. I sprong from my hiding spot drawing my knife to finish the job, leaping over bush and landing at its side.

It was a good clean shot. Right next to the heart. A quick and easy death, far to good for these monsters. I pulled the blood crusted arrow out and set it on the ground next to me. No good in wasting perfectly good arrows and set forth to finish the beast. But I was not crule in my killings like other afromentioned hunters coff coff Daren. I did my job quickly and with the least amount of pain as possible.

I took no pleasure in their deaths but they were monsters and should not be on this earth, and as a hunter I was to rid the world of them. And I would, starting with this one.

I raised my knife to make the killing blow when something stoped me. I'm not sure what, but it felt like a strange force was holding my arm back preventing me from ending its life.

I looked at its sweat ridded face and ghasped. It had blue eyes.

In all my training I had never heard of or seen tale of a blue eyed creature. Most of our stories portrayed them with having blood red eyes of murders or with eyes black as death. Never with any color, let alone blue.

The eyes were beautiful. And were fixed unconditionally on me. I got lost in them. And for a moment I forgot what my job was. And just staired at it in wonder.

I don't know how much time passed before I came to and remembered I was to kill this demon, but by then it was already almost there itself. Its breathing became labbored and heavy and could barely get a beath in without having to push itself up. This was cruel. I had to put it out of its misery before death became unbearable.

I raised my knife again but was stopped when I heard movement behind me.

Shit.

I was too slow in my work and had been spotted.

"Mother of Zeus, fudge crackers, damn, shit, french toast sticks, fuck." I muttered a string of curses alternating between real and made up curses.

'Just my luck, I find one only to have the glory taken from me.' I thought still cursing my stupidity.

I knew I had to finish it soon so I began again.

At the moment my knife sank into the creature's side I heard the sound I feared and dreaded the most. A howl.

I was donefore. The pack had heard this creatures helpless cries and now were coming for it. And I was still here. I looked down in horror. I had been wared of this constantly. 'Do your job, quickly and effectitaly and get out of there fast. The pack will hear and will come to help so don't dwandle.'

I was so dead.

Just my luck.
