The Hunter and the Wolf

Chapter Three

I ran through the woods not caring of how much sound I was making or that anyone in a three mile radius could hear and follow me and catch me by suprise. I just ran. And ran fast.

I pushed through the brush and shoved branches past me and quickly dodged them so as to not get smacked in the face by their sharp twigs.

All the while all my thoughts turned to the wolf in the woods, the one who had healed so miraculously and so quickly at that. I was just impossible that, something like that could happen. And if it was, why didn't my family tell us about it so we were better prepared? Or did they just not know the pure strenth and endurance that creatures like that possessed?

I didn't know but I was going to find out. I was set on that.

"Mama! Papa!" I shouted as I entered the village still not caring how fast I was running or what my appearence must look like to the rest of the town. All I cared about was getting to the Big House and talking to the Elders and to my father.

I burst through the door of the house and fantly heared the door slame shut behind me. Dad! Dad!" I ran to his office and would have continued running through it if I had not been stoped by a object in my path. We hit at such a force I fell backwards but managed to catch myself before falling.

I was about to mutter an appology to the person when I saw who it was. "Daren what are you doing here?" I asked him angry that he was blocking my path.

"I could ask you the same thing Alexa, you know your not suppose to be here." He told me sumgly and with a smirk on his face. Gods I would love to smack that grin off his face If he wasn't one of the elder's son's, and next leader of our people.

He thought he was so big and powerful cause his daddy had a big title and got him the Cheif Elder's spot when our current one, my father, retired. I was so mad he got that role, it should have been mine. Seeing that my father was the Chief Elder and I was his first born. But seeing as I was a woman, my father choose a man to lead us.

I resented that and vowed that I would prove to all of them that a woman could do just as good and possibly better than any man could at leading. But no one would listen, or let me do anything, other than the minamule roles that were given to me.

I worked so hard to achieve the status I had today and I dreaded the day that Daren became an elder, I knew his first mission would be to have my hunter's lisences removed and force me back to the submissive role that women had.

I stood firm and plastered a glare to my face, "I have EVERY right to be here Daren, seeing as my father is the Chief Elder. I can see him any time I want."

"I suppose you do Alexa, for now." He replied with an evil look on his face. I knew something was up and I dreaded what that son of a bitch had planned. "Have a nice talk with your father." He sumgly stated then proceded to march down the stairs and out of sight.

'Well, that went well. I suppose. But what does he mean?'

I shock off the worry, he was probably just trying to mess with me. And I wouldn't let him see that he was getting to me. So with my head helded high I walked up to my father's door and knocked. Father or not you did not enter the Chief Elder's office with out his permission.

"Come in." a mulfed reply responed a few seconds later. Taking a deep breath I entered the room confidently and approched my father's desk.

"Dad, I think we need to talk."

He looked up from his paper work and looked at me a grim look on his face. "Yes, Alexa, we really do."

Crap, that look was not good, not good at all. Whatever he had to tell me, was not going to be good. Fuck.
