Chapter 2

Melina's POV

"Who was that boy?" my mom asks.

"Oh, his name is Jack." I answer caught off guard by her question.

"A boy you'll be seeing often?" she asks.

"Mom.. We're just friends."

"Okay." she huffs and we pile into our grandparents car.

My phone vibrates and I recognize it as Jack's number.

Jack G: Hey it's Jack. Just making sure you didn't give me a fake number or something (;

Me: Nope it's me

Jack G: Soo the event? Please go I really want to show you what makes me happy.

Me: It depends

Jack G: Ugh. Pick you up at 7 am tomorrow

Me: 7 AM ?!?!

Jack G: Yup see you tomorrow

Me: Whatever

Jack G: (:

Jack G's POV

I texted Melina letting her know I was on my way to pick her up.

I arrived at her grandparents house within five minutes jogging up to the front door. I felt a vibration in my pocket.

Melina: I'll be outside in a minute.

I walked back to my car opening the passenger door for her. I hear the front door open and I turn around seeing Melina with hardly any makeup and her hair thrown into a bun. I smile, knowing she was one of those girls... I love those kinds of girls.

"What's up, Melina?"

"Jacckk," she whines. "Why are you making me wake up this early?"

I laugh, "Let's go get some breakfast first, okay?"

We talked forever, just like last night. I thought I may see her as a potential girlfriend, but then I realize, I love her like my best friend. She knows me as a best friend and I could see us being close friends for a long time.

I loved explaining what we would do in California for the event.

"Jack, I just flew from California yesterday morning." she groaned.

"I know, but I don't have to leave until tomorrow night and you said you only came to Omaha for the family reunion, right?"

"Yea, but-" I cut her off. "Please don't make up lame excuses. I feel like..."

I paused and thought of a final plead to get her to finally come with me.

"Melina, look. I know we just met and all, but I feel like we've known eachother forever. I feel like you're my long lost sister and I know that we'll be friends for a long time. Just let me show you what makes me happy, I want to get to know you better too. You can show me around your hometown in San Francisco. Please."

Her face turned to guilt and I knew I won her over.

I was interrupted by my ringtone going off.

It was Cameron.

"Hello?"

"Hey bro, are you still in Nebraska?"

"Yea, Cam. I'm flying out tomorrow night with Jack, Sammy and ... a, um, friend."
