Name: Alana (pronounced "ah-la-nuh" not "a-lane-a")
Age: technically like 7-ish??? But because of the blue tang features (they have a very distinct nose) she looks older
Story: her parents went missing and she wandered into Terenyl's area looking for them. He is currently sheltering her until she/they find her parents. She also took an interest in his potion making, so she informally studies under him as an alchemist
Extra: species = blue tangA thing I don't like about mermaids—
Why are they stereotypically a normal human but with a fish tail??? Where is ANY evolution logic that would make it so that humans evolved from the water to land, DRASTICALLY changing form over thousands of years, to also never leave the water but develop humanoid characteristics?? I mean whales, bats, humans, and cats all evolved from SOME common ancestor but humans also evolved further from primates (which aren't whales) so the evolutionary timeline doesn't make sense in the least??? Like we get our skin tone and hair colors from 1. genetics and 2. environment so how would normal peach skin help camouflage with the sandy ocean bottom or blue expanse?
Hence why I added so many more "fish" features to Alana and to my other merms, because evolution, as well as trying to also somewhat stay with an identifiable mermaid as well as keep at least SOMEWHAT true to the adopt??
Also because I have a concept in my original story that allows for crazy concepts of half-human half-animals and I really wanted to utilize that because I haven't as of yet.
(Yes yes I know Cannon and his sister-whom-I-forget-her-name are still more humanoid but they're technically based of beta fish still and I tried adding more fish features as well I just didn't do it WELL)
Fun fact: she's named after the youngest child in some of our old family friends that are currently visiting!! Alana IRL is only 3 and has no idea what mermaids are, as we established while I was drawing this, but she's too cute to not name another younger-ish character after X3Name: Terenyl
Age: uhhhhhh late teens early adults?? Haven't really decided he's young compared to the ppl with power but old enough to be alone and mature
Story: He's one of the very few known remaining octopus-carnes. He lives on a isolated piece of ocean dedicated specifically to him and works/is under the surveillance of the fishy merms in power (basically haven decided on an official name here). He's a hometaught alchemist with a natural gift with potions.
Extra: species = east Pacific red octopus. You NEVER see his eyes (like Kris from Deltarune but I've had this kiddo longer than Deltarune has been released). His hood is made to actually reflect a dumbo octopus's ears that theyre names after but I changed his base species because dumbo didn't quite fit :/ He can take the hood off but it makes him feel vulnerableIt is so. Much. FUN! To draw a character with 10 limbs because he can be EXTREMELY versatile and there's always movement because how else to you handle eight squishy arms and 2 bony ones?? And you never have to handle all 8 tentacles at once because it's radial symmetry and you can't see 3-4 in the back. I suggest 11/10 for a fun-to-doodle character

RandomI draw enough that I might as well make one of these. No idea what's going to be in here, probably some scenes from other people's books, knowing me. Meh and maybe some Gamer Nation pics, but I suck at IRL people, so then maybe not. Oh well. Open a...
