It was raining. Normally, Piper would roll up to Annabeth's house on her skateboard and they would walk to Goode High together, but no, today it was raining. Naturally, that meant that Piper would pick her up in her god-awful sunflower-yellow punch buggy. You'd think Annabeth would be okay with that, but in all honesty, Piper was a terrible driver.
Annabeth sighed deeply, begrudgingly pushing the sheets back and robotically swivelling her body, until her feet hit the floor.
"Gym clothes, I can't forget those." She mumbled to herself, running a hand through her unruly mane of golden curls and frowning as her fingers got stuck. "Shit, looks like I'm brushing that today."
Annabeth stood up, making her way over to her bathroom and doing the usual morning routine; take a shower, brush her teeth, wash her face, and today only, she had to tackle her hair. After she hopped out of the shower and dried off, she opened her phone to Spotify, and selected the Fuck Mornings playlist, and pressed shuffle. Once the sound of Pinegrove started to fill her ears, she checked her messages. It's raining, Annie. You know what that means? If you bring your bike helmet into my car again, I'm going to TP your locker -Piper
Annabeth shook her head, knowing full well that Piper was bluffing, but she was willing to suspend her disbelief. She finished up in the bathroom, and headed over to her closet where she grabbed a few items at random. She put them on and looked in the mirror, nodding in acceptance at her outfit choice: a yellow hoodie, black skinny jeans, and her red converse.
"Now that's just great. I look like I belong in the Bee Movie design archives." She snorted at her own joke before opening up her grey backpack, dumping in her textbooks and grabbing her gym bag in her free hand. She spared a glance at her watch and sighed. Ten minutes before she was expecting Piper to arrive, so fifteen minutes before she actually shows up.
She stumbled into the kitchen with her school bags and mumbled a good morning to Helen, who had grown considerably nicer over the past few years. She popped a piece of bread in the toaster and grabbed the lunch she had prepared the night before, shoving the container haphazardly into her lunch bag. Once the toaster beeped and the toast sprang up, Annabeth spread a thin layer of homemade strawberry jam on, and waited for Piper to show up.
About a minute later, Piper showed up, laying it down heavily on the horn.
"Jesus, Piper. Who let you get your license." She grumbled, leaving her house and locking the door after her. She hopped in the front seat, dumping her three bags on the floor in front of her, and tearing her slice of toast in half, presenting half to Piper.
"Helen made the jam fresh this weekend. After school I'll give you a jar." She put on her seatbelt, taking a large bite of her toast.
"Thanks bumblebee," Piper snorted at the glare she received from Annabeth. "I promised Nico I'd give him and Will a ride in today too." Annabeth nodded in understanding, thinking for a moment while Piper backed out of the driveway and set off towards Nico's neighbourhood.
"Are they a thing yet? They've been pining after each other literally for as long as I can remember."
"They'd better be. They basically already are, and everyone knows it except for them." Piper snorts, before pulling up outside of the di Angelo estate and applying extreme pressure onto the horn.
"Jesus Piper, you're gonna break your car if you keep doing that." Piper stuck her tongue out in response and unlocked the back doors of her car.
Will and Nico stumbled out of his house, slightly red in the face and disheveled looking. Annabeth and Piper looked at each other, wolf-whistling at the two boys when they slid into the back of the car.
