P I P E R

She knew that the journal idea wasn't going to be too successful. It had been a few days since she'd even bothered to pick up the damn thing, and she'd been staring blankly at the cover for the past hour.

"Screw this," she scoffed, but still she sighed and reached for the green gel pen that rested on the floor between her bed and the wall.

"But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to write just a little more."

After another twenty minutes or so, she finally started to record a quick poem. It wasn't one of her best works, but she quite liked the outcome, considering the lack of motivation that she felt. She checked her phone, hoping for a message from Annabeth, but there was nothing.

This wasn't particularly troubling, considering the fact that it was 3:02 in the morning, and Annabeth didn't suffer from insomnia in the same way that Piper did. She sighed and rolled over, grabbing her phone in hand and opening the message app. She started to type out a message to her best friend, Any chance we could go for coffee tomorrow before first period? I doubt I'm sleeping tonight.

She decided not to send that text, and deleted it instead. This was for multiple reasons, but mostly because she realized that it was Saturday. She huffed in annoyance at herself, but then turned off the lamp on her bedside. As she stared off into the darkness, she thought about her plans for the next day: if she were to wake up at a decent hour, Annabeth, Percy, Leo, Will, and Nico were coming over for movies and what she liked to call an indoor picnic. However, Annabeth always scoffed at this, choosing rather to call it eating dinner on the floor in front of the TV. Either way, Piper was excited to spend the day with some friends, and this was enough to help her slowly doze off into a deep slumber.

The next day, she was woken rudely to the sound of her apartment door slamming shut. Piper groaned and buried her face in her pillow, then shot up at the sound of Annabeth's voice,

"Get up, dumbass! Why didn't you answer my texts?"

Piper clambered out of bed, grabbing at her phone, which had fallen under her bed at some point in the night. She clicked the home button, and yelped when she saw the time: two thirty.

"Fuck! Sorry, Annie, give me ten minutes and I'll be out." She called, and ran to take the worlds quickest shower, wrestling on her Pokemon Sylveon onesie that she wore for every movie night. She brushed her teeth and combed through her hair with her fingers, then booked it out into the hallway, where she sprinted right into Leo, sending him flying into Percy.

She gasped and threw a hand over her mouth, watching as they both slid across the floor.

"Oops?" She offered, shrugging. "Anyways, I'm here!" She ran to the kitchen, grabbing a few bags of chips and popcorn, and tossed her phone to Will, who barely caught it.

"Can you order us a few pizzas?" She smiled, laying on the charm. He groaned and unlocked her phone anyway, dialling the number for the pizza place a few blocks away, and quickly placed their usual order.

"Pipes, how the fuck did you sleep so late?" Percy asked, looking at her in awe, "even I draw the line at noon."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever, fish boy. I'll have you know I stayed up until three in the morning, and unless Annie's here to keep me together, my life's in shambles." She wrinkled her nose, tearing open the bag of salt and vinegar chips, crunching on one thoughtfully.

"Whenever Leo stays over at yours, you sleep later than noon." She pointed out, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. Percy and Leo both blushed, sharing a look.
