"Someone is catching magical girls." Ayame said urgently to the black-haired girl. Homura looked indifferent.
"And why should I care?" She inquired coolly, "You know that I only have one goal, and I won't let myself be distracted by anything else." Ayame frowned at her.
"And what is this goal of yours?" She asked, wondering what secrets such a silent, cold girl would hide. Homura stared at her unblinkingly.
"To protect the person who means the most to me," She replied coldly, her gaze darkening, "I suppose now, you should know I am unable to help you." With a flick of her hair, she turned heel and left, her footsteps echoing in the hallway. Ayame could only stare after her in bewilderment and anger.
"I don't now what's wrong with you?!" She cried in outrage, "How could you not care if there are other magical girls like you getting hurt? Since when did you become so cruel and cold-hearted?" The outburst didn't seem to faze Homura, who stopped and turned to face Ayame.
"If you care about those magical girls and you want to help them," She told Ayame, her voice full of unmasked anger, "Then you can go and help them. Don't bother drag other people along with you." Homura marched back into the classroom, as Ayame stood there, shocked. Finally, she set her jaw.
"If you won't help me," She muttered, "I guess I'll have to help them alone."
'The magical girl who caught the other one had white hair and a white dress. I should ask around for a white magical girl.' Ayame thought. A sight caught her eye, making her look up. Lyubey was walking slowly, away from Ayame.
"Lyubey!" She rushed to the white incubator, "Just who I was looking for! Do you know any white magical girls?" She asked. Lyubey looked up.
"I was just going to contract with someone," She replied, "But I do know a white magical girl." Ayame looked at Lyubey hopefully.
"Could you tell me who she is then?" She asked. Lyubey's eyes gleamed.
"Of course," Her high voice replied, "Her name is Oriko Mikuni. I think she's in Kasamino City right now." Ayame's face fell.
"Kasamino City." She repeated. How could Oriko have kidnapped magical girls then gone to Kasamino City?
"How long has she been there?" Ayame asked cautiously, "Was she in Mitakihara city yesterday or the day before?" Lyubey gave what looked like a shrug, mentally kicking herself.
"I can't say," She replied cheerfully, "I guess you could go ask her yourself."
Ayame made up her mind then. She'll go to Kasamino City, and ask Oriko why she would catch all these magical girls. There was no other possibility. Lyubey had only said one magical girl. Ayame was pretty sure that if there were more, Lyubey would tell her. They must be just as worried about the missing magical girls as she was.
"I'm going to Kasamino City to find this Oriko." Ayame told Lyubey.
"If you want," Lyubey replied, "I was just going to contract with a girl. I have to go." That proved, to Ayame, that the incubators were trying to create more magical girls, to make up for the missing ones.
"I'll come with you." Ayame offered. The girl would need someone to help her learn the ways of a magical girl. Ayame also needed someone to help her in her mission.
Lyubey blinked.
"Ok." She replied finally. Padding off, she scampered towards an abandoned building, darting through the doorway in a white flash. Ayame followed, curious where this would lead to.
As she walked through the first room, she heard crying. Crying that sounded like it was coming from a girl so terrified.
"Don't cry, little girl." A male voice snickered. Ayame tensed.
"I might need your help on this one," Lyubey's voice echoed in Ayame's mind, "Just distract the man, and I'll contract with the girl." Ayame nodded. She began running up the first flight of stairs she could see, following the sound of crying. As she neared it, the crying turned into a scream. Ayame quickened her pace, until she was almost charging.
Stopping in front of a closed door, where the screams could be heard behind it, Ayame held out her soulgem, willing herself to transform.
