I ran as fast as I could. I could feel that Sean and Gab were after me. Gab was focusing his energy to his feet already, so I used my telekinesis to uproot some trees and block their way. I closed my eyes. I wanted to teleport. But I was still exhausted.
"Amber!" Sean called me through our telepathy. I didn't mind him. I uprooted more trees and blocked their path, until finally, I stopped sensing them. I sat by a tree, catching my breath. The words I just said were familiar. Count to three. Relax your mind. Now survive. It seems so familiar. From a book or something.
"Amber!" I heard a voice. It was familiar, but it wasn't Sean's nor Gab's.
"Ross?" I shouted back. I heard footsteps running towards me, until finally, I saw Ross. He had his gear on. He had a belt with two sheathes and one holster. He also had a pouch. So this is how he looks like in his gear, I thought.
"Where's your friends?" Ross asked.
"I left them. They were going back to my Uncle, so I decided to run away. There's something I need to do-"
"Where's the notebook?" Ross said. I was kind of surprised by what he just said. He was straight to the point. So I took it out of my pocket and handed it to him.
He opened the notebook and flipped through the pages, until he stopped in one of them. He handed me the notebook immediately.
"We are losing. There is nothing else we can do. The Spells are being killed one by one, and we are only a few left. This will be my last entry.
To all descendants who are still alive, the war will grow worse. There will be only one hope, and that is the woman in my prophecies. There will be betrayal, there will be losses, there will be sacrifices, but all of these must be done to protect our race.
Raven Woods is dying. He has passed his ability to his son. The Shadow will cover the world in darkness. The Shadow will turn the world to black-and-white. Your only hope is the Light. I have sent my messengers to scatter this letter to many places, and let alone the Spells will find it. You must all unite.
And to you, woman, it is fated that this whole book will be given to you. You must read through my entries, know your future. If you have the abilities of telekinesis and telepathy, then use them to save the world. Use your Light to protect us from the Shadow. You will be the only hope.
Spells, wait for her. Wait for the Gifted One, and you will all be redeemed from the Shadow.
- Seth Sween, Descendant of Spell, the Omniscient One."
Shivers went down my spine. I turned to Ross immediately, and he had a look of worry in his face. "It'll be fine, Amber," he said, then he went to the last page of the notebook. "Just one last." He handed the notebook to me. I analyzed the words I saw carefully.

"So what does it mean?" I asked Ross. He shook his head, telling me that he didn't know. Suddenly, from the shrubs behind Ross, a person walked out, and he had the same gear with Ross.
"She's the Gifted One?" the boy asked.
"Her name's Amber, Kai," Ross said in reply, then he looked at me. "Amber, this is Kai, my brother," he said. I shook Kai's hand. His hand was cold, so he let go of me immediately.
"Sorry," he said. "My hand's cold." I looked at Ross, so he clarified what Kai meant. Kai's ability is Ice, and his hand could become cold even if he doesn't. "Kai still doesn't know how to control it," he said.
"Well, Kai," I said thinking of a pun to break the tension. Oh. I just thought of one. "Meeting you was a nice way to..." I gave a short pause to put emphasis on the pun. "Break the ice," I said, then laughed. Ross chuckled, and Kai grunted.
