Kali's Flight Before Christmas

Chapter 1

"You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen... Comet, and Cupid, Donner and Blitzen... But do you know Niko? Well, you're about to find out..." 

"The epic true story of a little reindeer, who traveled miles across treacherous waters, fierce blizzards, AND BATTLED A WHOLE ARMY OF!-" 

"Just shut up and get to the story already!" Someone shouted at the narrator, being rather impatient. 

"Okay, okay, sorry..." The narrator apologized a bit nervously, before the story now truly got started.

The Harpercop family had just arrived at a ski resort lodge somewhere way up north. Almost at the top of the world, where they'd be spending their vacation just days before Christmas. 

Jane sighed, as she placed her bags down when they came inside. "I'm so glad we finally made it" 

"We want to play in the snow! We want to play in the snow!" The twins said, excited to go out and play in the snow. 

"Hold on now, kids" Walter reminded the twins. "I have to check us in first" 

"And don't you go wandering off now, young lady" Walter then sternly told someone else. 

"That's right, your father and I don't want you getting into any trouble" Jane sternly added to their other child. 

The Harpercop's oldest child, Kali, was always known for adventure. Ever since she was a little kid she loved going out on adventures to see the world and make all kinds of new friends. 

Just then, a young couple came passing by the family as they were preparing to leave the lodge. 

"Oh, hello" Jane greeted the couple. 

"Well, hello dearies" The young woman smiled to the Harpercop family. "Enjoying your stay?"

"Yeah, we just got here" Jane replied. 

"Oh, that's nice" The young man replied. "We were just leaving from are vacation"

The couple was shown to have a pet pink poodle who came out in between them, wagging her tail. 

"Oh, what a cute dog" Jane said. 

"Thank you. This is our baby, Essie" The woman introduced. 

Kali came up to pet Essie and introduced herself. "Hello, I'm Kali"

"Nice to meet you, deary" Essie smiled back, seeming friendly. "You seem like such a kind and sweet girl" 

"Thank you" Kali smiled back to the pink poodle. 

"Well, good look on your trip back" Jane told the young couple. 

"Thank you, and enjoy your stay" The young woman told Jane in return, before she left with her husband. 

"Merry Christmas!" Jane waved goodbye to the young couple. 

After a few minutes, Kali was sitting around by the fireplace with the rest of her family in the lobby as Walter was still checking them in. 

The young adventure girl never liked staying in one spot for very long, as she was growing bored. 

That's when Kali soon spotted people getting on the tour bus to leave the resort, including Essie's owners. But saw Essie wandering away from the tour bus. 

Just then, Kali heard her dad calling for her mother. 

"I need to go help your father" Jane told her children. 

"Now don't go anywhere" Jane specifically warned her oldest and adventurous daughter before she left to go and help her husband. 

After Jane left, Kali looked back to see her younger twin siblings too distracted playing with each other then took her chances and rushed out of the lodge to go find Essie. 

The young adventure girl followed the pink poodle at a distance, seeing her wander further and further away from the lodge. The poodle must've smelled something interesting, which led her into wandering off away from the lodge. 

Kali continued following Essie, until the little adventure girl realized she was now deep in the forest and had lost sight of Essie. 

Kali looked back and couldn't see the lodge anymore, knowing she had wandered off too far and didn't know the way back. 

So, the brave little adventure girl kept pressing forward. 

"I got to find my way back" She told herself, determined. 

The tomboy kept on going, until she found tracks in the snow....
