Kali's Flight Before Christmas

Chapter 2

Tracks!....

Kali looked down in the snow, having found tracks. But these weren't just any tracks... They were reindeer tracks. 

"Huh?" The little adventure girl titled her head. 

Kali then remembered hearing from the other tourists at the lodge saying that there were reindeer in the area. 

Kali followed the tracks a ways through the forest until she came up over a hill. Once she reached the top, she looked down to find a hidden valley filled with a herd of reindeer. 

"Wow!" The tomboy was amazed at how many reindeer she saw. 

She started to make her way down the hill but slipped and tumbled the rest of the way down through the snow. 

Some of the reindeer heard this thud and some groaning as they all lifted their heads up in high alert. 

A few of the reindeer came over to this pile of snow and were surprise to discover Kali in it. 

"A human!" The reindeer gasped in shock. 

Kali groaned as she got up to wipe the snow off her, but then froze to see the reindeer were all staring at her before saying awkwardly...

"Uh.... Hi?"

It was pretty obvious what happened next, and Kali knew that exactly....

The reindeer screamed and backed away in fear, hearing this human girl speak to them. One reindeer even fainted. 

"What's going on here?" This one, very large looking buck who appeared to be the leader of the herd came forward. 

"This human has wandered into the home valley" One male reindeer stated. 

The leader of the reindeer herd came forward and up to Kali, who looked a tad nervous. 

"Who are you?" The leader demanded sternly, asking the human girl a ton of questions. "Where did you come from? How did you find us?" 

"Um, I'm Kali... I just followed some reindeer tracks into the forest near the ski lodge" The little adventure girl explained, stuttering only a little out of nervousness from seeing this very large and intimidating buck standing over her. 

The whole reindeer herd all seemed to gasp upon hearing that. Even the leader's eyes widened a bit in great shock. 

"You must go back, now!" The leader demanded Kali to head back to the ski lodge. Which was miles away, Kali couldn't make it on her own even if she tried. 

"Uh... Uh..." Kali didn't know what to do as all eyes were on her. 

"Alright everyone, that's enough" A female voice said. 

Just then, this white female reindeer stepped out through the crowd. "No need to scare the poor thing. She's only a girl"

Kali seemed to calm down a bit when the white female reindeer came up to her and nuzzled her a little, assuring the adventure girl she was safe and among friends. 

Kali smiled a little to the female reindeer, before standing up and explaining to the leader of the herd. "I swear to you, I had no intention of coming here. I didn't even know this place existed. And I would never think of harming any of you ever"

This made all the reindeer chatter to each other quietly in interest while the leader thought about this for a minute. 

"Hmm. Very well" The leader approved of Kali, seeing that she wasn't a threat to the herd. "You're welcome to stay, as long as you don't leave Home Valley"
