Soon, the Death Eaters started trying to break into the castle and the battle began.
The magical barricade didn't last long enough though, and soon the death eaters penetrated the fortified castle. I went off in a different direction from Remus, making sure that he didn't have another chance to try to dissuade me.
After a few minutes of wandering around the battle-damaged corridors, I came across a death eater. I began to duel him, shooting and blocking spells until I had won. I tied him up and put him in an empty classroom, unwilling to kill if it wasn't necessary. A group of ten death eaters came around a corner as a left the corridor. I shot a powerful spell at them and ran away, knowing I couldn't beat them all at once. I kept shooting spells behind me as I ran until I ran into someone.
It was Remus. "Nymphadora, what are you still doing here? I told you to go home!" he yelled over all the noise.
"I told you, I'm helping!" I shouted, shooting something behind him at a death eater.
We got ambushed by a crowd of death eaters and were outnumbered three to one. I fought three and he fought three. Luckily though, the death eaters were not particularly powerful, and Remus and I didn't get too hurt.
Once the death eaters were all unconscious on the ground, I ran away from Remus. He followed me, but I was faster. I lost him in a crowd of fighters, ducking my head and occasionally dodging a deadly curse. I went up to a moving staircase, shooting death eaters on the way. I wanted to get to higher ground so I could see what was going on.
