'good night.'
she kept looking at that final text over and over again. it had been hours since he had sent the text that had kept her up. a whimper arose in her throat when she noticed the lack of affection within the text. perhaps he was just tired, and didn't realize, but the situation had her head spinning, far beyond logic now.
she hardly noticed as she slipped, her thumb suddenly found in her mouth, the other hand clutched around a beloved plushie. without a second thought, she sent him a text.
'dada don hate me?'
minutes went by before she sent another text.
'jus wan kissies, pls don hate me'
and then another.
'i jus wan your loveeeee pls'
...
'what the fuck?'
her eyes widened at the response. god she fucked up. how could she slip like that and text him. she could hardly see the screen as her eyes filled with tears.
'are you joking?'
she couldn't get herself to respond.
'this isnt fucking funny'
god god god, he hates her. he hates her. how could she fuck up their relationship like this, god god god.
when he got there he wasnt surprised to see the door open, she was very forgetful and never bothered to lock her doors. as he entered her room, he realized how she was curled up in a ball, tears streaks down her face, nose red from crying, and her hair plastered against her cheeks and forehead.
gently, he moved the hair out of face. he froze as he noticed the cherry red pacifier in her mouth. he had no idea how to feel. they had been dating for over a year, and nothing had been this awkward.
finally deciding on his action, he sat upon the bed and dragged the girl into his lap. she slightly stirred as her eyes fluttered open. half-lidded and confused eyes looked up to meet his. they suddenly widened as she realized the situation, but he just gently stroked her hair.
'shh, go back to sleep baby, we can talk about it in the morning.'
her shoulders slumped in ease as she relaxed in the arm of her caregiver.
