Liam - The day before
After finally landing in New York, I was guided off the exhausting, 10-hour flight to the luggage pick up, which was all the way across the airport. As I walked with my parents, I wanted to stop and explore everything, but I had to resist. I felt as if I was a 5-year-old in a toy store and told to touch nothing. This is my first time in the Americas. It is my dream come true and now I get to study my high school years here. Anyways, I eventually made my way to the conveyor belt and patiently waited for my bag to appear. What if I end up not liking America? I mean I know nobody here, so it might be difficult to find someone with something in common. I snap out of my doubtful mind as my green suitcase decides to make its appearance.
Once we get to the new house, I prepared for the morning and hopped in the shower. Finally, getting my hair dry the way I like it, I walked into my room full of moving boxes and found a large book that looks as if it is twenty years old.
"What's this on the bed?"
Mother walked into the room with a face mask on, "It's a family tradition to read that book in high school, it was written by your great grandfather."
I stared at the book and sighed, "What if I don't?".
"You won't be deemed worthy of owning the company."
"Anyways, I have to go to sleep now, love." She turned to walk out. "Good Luck Hon."
I removed the dusty book from my clean new sheets and sat it on a box in the corner. I drifted off to sleep with school on my mind.

After meeting Kaylee...
We walk down the hall in silence until I finally decide to break the ice.
"So... How long have you been going here?"
"Three years, this is my fourth"
I must admit that she is very pretty. Since, I have no friends here, I figured I might as well try to get Kaylee as my first. Even though, I think her boyfriend Carter is a little too overprotective. He must really like her.
"So, when did you and Carter start dating?" She turned bright red and looked at down at her hands.
"W-we aren't dating, we're just best friends since third grade."
I stood shocked at her words, but played it off as if it was nothing. Soon we arrive at our first stop, the cafeteria. I see many different types of kids ,gathered in groups at the spread out lunch tables. You can clearly tell who the popular kids were just by looking at the confidence that radiates off them. Anyways, I noticed everyone was whispering and looking at me.
"Who's the new kid?"
"I don't know, but he's hot."
" I know right."
I look to Kaylee, "Why they pointing at us?"
"They're not pointing at us; they're pointing at you."
I don't know what they want with me, but if it means making some friends then I'm all for it. Eventually, three girls in what looks like expensive dresses walk up to me. Kaylee looks really unsettled and looks down at her hands again.
The one with brown hair spoke first, "I'm Mia Cooper, queen of this school." I watch as the other two behind her wait to speak.
"Hi, I'm Maddie Parker and this is Amelia Hudson." They both smile bright smiles, I smile back. Maddie's hair is black and Amelia's is dirty blonde, overall they seem nice...I guess. Mia rolls her eyes ,then returned to her perfect smile.
"Anyways... what's a cutie like you doing with a loser like Kaylee?"
Kaylee keeps her head down and says nothing.
"Well first, she's pretty cool. Second, She's my tour guide and she's doing great."
Kaylee glanced at me with a small smile ,then returned her glaze to her hands. "Well, you should come sit and chat with us later" Mia winks and returns to her table with her group.
We walked out the cafeteria, Kaylee made a small but noticeable sigh. While talking, she showed me the full interior of the school and also told me a bit about herself, like how she loves avocado or that her favorite color is yellow. It reminds her of the sun at noon. Eventually, our last stop of the tour was the fountain Miss Adam was talking about. As we step outside, I see the most wonderful fountain, you could ask for. I stand there in awe, but I couldn't help to look down at Kaylee. The breeze blowing through her hair, she stood there with the same small smile she had back in the cafeteria. It was easy-going and pretty. I can feel my face get hot, but I only want her as a friend...right? NO, I can't think that way, I definitely only want her as a friend.
