"please, minju, i don't wanna go. the last thing i wanna do is go to dinner with you and minho, and sit there awkwardly with one of his friends that i've never met." i beg my best friend, hoping she would give in and let me stay home.
but that just wasn't minju. "absolutely not. hyunjin is a great guy. you'll like him, i promise."
i groan in defeat. i could beg minju all i wanted, but i knew better. getting my way with her just isn't something that happens.
"fine. i'll be ready in a few." so i reluctantly head upstairs to my bedroom to get ready.
the four of us were going out to dinner at a nice restaurant, so i wanted to look nice, but not overdone. i settle for a black halter top style dress that flared out at the hips, and ended just above my knees. i pair it with a pair of black flats and a little black leather jacket. i brush through my hair and pull it up into a high ponytail, then comb my bangs to neaten them. i leave my makeup the way it was - simple - and head back down the stairs with my phone and purse.
"-she should be coming down any minute now."
i see minju standing with minho near the stairs, their backs to me. i also see another dark haired male standing on the other side of minho, hands stuffed in the pockets of his dress pants, looking around awkwardly. his back is also to me.
"well, what are we waiting for?" i ask, standing at the bottom of the stairs.
all three turned around upon hearing my voice. minju's jaw dropped, and she let out a breathy "wow".
i don't see minho's reaction, because i'm focused on the other boy - hyunjin - who is staring at me with wide eyes that looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets any second now. minju had told me 'he's your type' and now i see that she was right. he was tall, with dark almond-shaped eyes, and wavy dark hair that was close to mullet length.
"oh-" a gasp escaped my lips as i stared at the boy. "you're gorgeous." my hand slams over my mouth when i realized what i'd said. shit.
hyunjin's face turns a bright shade of red, and he looks down to the floor.
minju is staring at me with a look of amused surprise, and her expression almost says, "I told you so."
i stand there, red-faced, trying to think of how to make the situation a little less awkward, but minho saved my ass and beat me to it.
"we'd better hurry, unless we wanna be late. let's just get this date on the road." he says with a forced chuckle.
all I could think was, oh boy.
