background ➤ bucky was born on march 10 , 1991 to leila and jayden barnes in brooklyn , new york. his parents and grandparents were all from germany , so bucky grew up learning german as his first language and english as his second . when he was young , his mother taught him how to sew , which often lead to bucky making gifts for his parents , and grandparents when they visited from berlin . when he was nine , his mother gave birth to his sister rebecca , who he called becca . bucky thought it was odd how some kids at school hated their younger siblings , because bucky absolutely adored becca. it was often that bucky would braid becca's hair , simply because he wanted to , and that their mother didn't have time to do it herself . when bucky was old enough to start doing bigger things around the farm , he helped his dad pick apples , strawberries , carrots , potatoes , sugar canes , corn , grapes , and other things . but more often then not , bucky was in the stables , taking care of his horse that he loved so much . he called her sina . well when bucky was seventeen , his mother died from tuberculosis . it was sad , seeing as how becca was only eight years old . a few years later when he was nineteen , bucky joined the army , since they were spending all their money on other necessary things on daily life , and bucky's father couldn't afford to send him off to college . he became a sargeant in the military , not having a unit as he helped whatever unit that needed it , which gained him high respect . one day though , there was a manslaughter ordered by hydra and bucky was the only one who had survived . he woke up in shield's infirmary and fury explained to him that they had to give him the super soldier serum to keep him alive . when bucky asked who'd attacked the unit he'd been with , fury told him that it'd been hydra . bucky's been working with shield ever since , working to destroy hydra once and for all .
