Chapter 1

Georgia's pov

I didn't understand back then why there was lots of people dressed in black and crying. All I knew was that I was never seeing my mum again. At first they didn't know how to break the news to me. I never noticed my mum loosing her hair, going to weekly doctors appointments and slowing wareing away bit by bit.

The last time time I saw her, she was lying in a hospital bed with a thin, white sheet covering her body and hooked up to hundreds of tubes keeping her alive. After that day my life was never the same. My mum was never there to send me off to nursery or tuck me In at night.

Nothing was the same after that. Not after the funeral. That's when it started, that's when my life turned into a living hell. At least my dad made sure it was.

I never expected my dad to take out all his rage on me, before cancer took my mums life my dad wouldn't harm any living soul. He was the type of dad who would help out the local football team on weekends but now he drowns his problems in acahlol and takes his anger out on me. Every beating got worse and worse till the point that I would black out after he was done with me.

"Georgia, where the fuck have you been you whore." My dad bellowed from the living room. I froze In my tracks knowing what was going to happen next."M-my teacher held me back" I stuttered. "Why the fuck did she do that?" He questioned "Has someone been a little shit at school again!" He screamed even louder "no, no! It was nothing!" I begged "spit it out Georgia, you know very well what I'm fucking capable of!" He said before threw his empty bear bottle, just skimming the top of my head. Before he could go for me I belted out the door and went to the only place left that I was welcome. Across the road to the brooks family.
