Raven Edwards dived into the pool as if it was any other day. But today was special. It was Raven's best friend's (Jessie) birthday. Jessie was turning fifteen. And it was the night before Junior year of school for Raven.
The day was September 2nd. It was still plenty warm outside, despite the fact it was soon to be considered Autumn (to Raven) once school started, and it was 9:13PM.
Since Jessie is in a grade below Raven, they get together on weekends to chat about all the cute humans in their grades.
Jessie currently has a crush on a boy named Trevor. Jessie told Raven; ''I really like him! I hope he likes me back...'' Raven has tried to convince Jessie man times that Trevor, in fact, does have a crush on her. But Jessie still thinks Raven is lying.
''Hey, Raven?'' said Jessie, floating on her back in her above ground pool. Raven jumped into the water, stayed down on the bottom for less than a minute. There Raven sat at the bottom of the pool with a smile that stretched ear to ear on her face. She had always loved the water ever since she was five years old.
''Yeah?'' asked Raven once she reached the surface. ''I was wondering if you think... uh... I could spend the night with you and go to school with you tomorrow?" The smile that had disappeared once Raven reached the surface reappeared onto her face.
''Yeah! Of course! I'll just text my mom in a few minutes.'' ''While you're still swimming, I'll text my dad to make sure it's okay.'' Raven nodded and headed back underwater.
She only stayed in the pool for two minutes then headed out and over to where her towel and phone laid.
Once Raven had dried her hands she turned on her phone and quickly texted her mother asking about Jessie spending the night.
''Have you talked to Matt yet?'' said Jessie as Raven sat down onto a chair next to her.
''No... I am going to wait until tomorrow since he doesn't come home from the Sensation tour till late tonight.'' Jessie nodded. ''Smart.'' she said.
After they had finished our little conversation Raven's phone buzzed.
Mom; Yes she can. Love you too. Be home soon!
Raven told Jessie the good news to which Jessie responded; ''Wanna help me pack?'' Raven shrugged and followed Jessie into the house. Raven held tightly onto her phone and towel in attempts to not drip too much water onto the floor.
Ten minutes later Jessie was still deciding on an outfit, while Raven had already changed into a large sweatshirt and a pair of black silk shorts. She (Raven) was currently braiding her hair on Jessie's bed while watching Jessie throw shirts everywhere.
''Should I wear this?" said Jessie, turning to face Raven with her back to the closet. It was a pastel yellow shirt that had a small rose on the left corner.
''Yeah. You look good in yellow.'' said Raven casually. Raven shifted her focus back onto braiding her hair, and Jessie just smiled. ''Thanks!"
''So, are you gonna text Matt?'' said Jessie after she had changed into a pair of pink silk shorts and her black tank top, she sat down besides Raven on her bed.
''I just want to talk to him in person.''
The real reason Raven doesn't want to Matt till he is in school is because they were best friends before he was famous and before all the tours. So Raven is worried he has changed and wanted to see in first person for herself if he has...
