You turned your head around to observe the speaker, and you felt the sharpened object held against your neck cut lightly into your skin, though you didn't particularly register the pain as you were used to such injuries. The wielder of the weapon, which you recognized now as a hatchet, was a boy about your age dressed in a striped mask, covering a good portion of his lower face, along with a pair of golden tinted goggles. In addition, he wore an olive-green sweatshirt with stripes running down the sleeve with varying shades of green and a blue hood. Chocolate hair decorated his face in a messy fashion, and his skin was pale.

"If you're going to kill me, just do it. It's less work for me." You looked up at his mostly covered face with your dull (e/c) eyes. It may have been the moonlight, but his skin looked pale. He looked down at you and pressed his hatchet harder into your neck, though you didn't wince at the increased pain. Seeing this, the boy relieved pressure from your neck and continued to study your face. He moved around the log to stand in front of you. It may have been the bruises from your peers in school or the fresh burn mark under your left eye, but something in your face piqued his interest, and he reached down to touch one of the marks on your face, before catching himself and recoiling his hand. Realizing that he was not planning to take your life, you raised the pills to your lips once more, before he smacked them out of your hand.

"Why?" He questioned, his voice muffled by his mask. You had heard this question many times, and your response was always the same.

"Because I'm just a waste of space" You stated, emotion lost from your voice.  The words had lost their meaning in your mind, you were just so used to using them as an excuse. He shrugged.

"Aren't w-we all?" He said, a hint of humor in his voice. You shrugged in return.

"I guess?" You replied quietly. He held out his hand.

"I'm Tobias, but my friends call me T-toby. What's your n-name?" You could see that he was grinning, even through his mask and goggles.

"Y/N." You responded, without smiling in return, although it didn't seem to dampen his newfound spirit. You still took his hand and his fingers firmly wrapped around yours, before he unexpectedly pulled you to your feet. You slightly blushed, as you were now only inches apart, and you looked down.

"Alright, Y/N, seeing as you c-can't be left alone, you g-get to come with m-me!" He said cheerfully. Didn't he just want to kill me though?  You only had the chance to ponder this, before he picked you up as if you were weightless as a feather, and began to speed into the forest. He seemed to be running at random, turning and moving in a new direction occasionally until you had lost all sense of direction. Through the trees, you saw you were rapidly approaching a large estate, with vines enveloping the walls, and cracks coating the outer wall that lined the open yard encompassing the house. The mansion itself wasn't in terrible shape, though, with pristine, white walls, a large, pinewood door, and multiple floors, the house was intimidating, to say the least. Toby placed you down on the pathway leading to the front door, and he took your hand as he led you towards the house,

"Where are we?" You asked, studying the house. It was unlikely he lived here alone, it was too large for one person.

"S-slender Mansion." He replied, grabbing the handle to the dark, wooden door. He paused, turning to face you. "I should w-warn you, the p-people in there aren't exactly... normal. D-don't be surprised if they look d-different." He grinned. "Don't s-scream, OK?" With that, he turned the handle and pushed open the large door.

Sorry, that took way longer than expected, I was tied up with multiple projects in school and the curse of writers' block. I'll try harder next time to update more often! Also, the chapter itself came out to be 666 words, so that's fun. If you have any suggestions or found any writing errors, please tell me! Stay strong, and until next time!
