' Grrrrrrrrrr...............'

As usual I woke to the low growling of my dog which is his morning routine and my alarm to know that the birds are up and are feasting on the grains which are kept on my windowsill. It is not intentional but, I'm just too lazy to move the stacks of grains. "Hey boy, 'morning" I say to my dog. He greets me with a low purr and rests his head on my stomach. "No baby, I need to get up. Don't let me get too comfortable" He whined, while I pushed his head away and got up. Instantly I was greeted by the cold winter morning and a beautiful sight of snow-covered landscape.

Hi, I'm Y/N and I live in a small mountain village with my dog.

I used to live with my grandma in this little cottage since I can remember. After she died when I was twelve, it's been just me, my dog and the mountains. The villagers are nice to me too. It never occurred to me that I should go and live in a city or something, because I just can't leave these familiar mountains. No matter how much they are hated by all the people in the village, I love them. Those beautiful majestic mountains which seem like covered in gold when the sunlight falls on its snow covered tip. In this place where vegetation is scarce and transport none (I'm not joking), I work as an herbal doctor taking over my grandmother. I could never be as skilled as her but I surely can help the villagers. She taught me all she could before dying and left all her medicine notes to me. It's not bad at all because, the villagers are the people who give me the endless supply of food materials. I have no idea how they managed the farm but I am grateful to heavens they did.

I make some fried eggs and rice for breakfast and give Husky, my dog, his meat. Then I take my skis and go out to the forest down at the foot of the mountain on which our village is. For anyone it is dangerous but, not to my skis and my dog. One of the first things my grandma taught me was skiing and I am proud to say I have got some talent in it. After greeting a few people whom I saw on my way, and stopping Husky from wandering off on his own a couple of times, I finally was able to wear my skis and fix myself before fighting the snow. "You ready for the morning run, Husky?"

"WOOF"

"Let's get it! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" and I was off with my dog once falling behind, once slipping ahead of me, in his personal sleigh. The wind hitting my body in full force, blocking my dog's excited barks, was increasing the rush of adrenaline in me. I did it everyday, but never got tired of it. Looking up in front I could see the trees slowly coming in my sight. I stopped speeding and following my lead, my dog (I never knew how I got so lucky to have such an obedient one) slowed down too. As we came to a stop, the forest was in front of me. I stretched and got out of my skis. "WOOF, WOOF" Husky was barking running ahead of me dragging his sleigh. "Hey wait for me! And stop dragging your sleigh like that, you'll get bruised!" I followed him into the forest, carrying my skis on my back, strapping them.

Gathering herbs is what more than me, my dog specializes in. he has got a nose which I wish humans had. It didn't take him long to find a new patch of the usual herbs which I need everyday.

"I'm tired of praising you for your amazing skills, so excuse me sir and let me pick up these herbs peacefully while you ca-, HEY WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?" I yell, panicking because if I lose sight of him, then being the amazing navigator I am, I would probably come across some ancient ruins buried underground instead of going home. He immediately comes back and paws at me to follow him. "Sometimes I forget who owns who." I mumble. Following Husky, who is busily sniffing his way after picking up some scent, I keep my eyes near the trees passing our way, in case I find something useful. Then, I stop. I stopped in front of one of the familiar tall pine tree. Usually I don't find any sort of useful herbs around them but, this time I stop, not because of the flora. "Husky! HUSKY!" I call out to my dog in full volume. He stops and looks at me. "Come here. We need to collect the herbs and go. I don't want to stay here." He looks at me questioningly and first refuses to leave the scent. But he recognises the fear in my eyes and immediately scoots back at my side and licks the tip of my boots. I look down and manage to smile somehow before going back to the patch. I collect what I need and without wasting time I go back.

To go back, I go round the forest covering a part of its perimeter to reach at the place where the snow is not so thick and the rocks of the mountain's body is coming out here and there. Its almost like a staircase and very easy to climb. It leads directly to the north-west direction of the village. From there, its a straight path following the direction (which is left to my dog) to our village. Without delaying much, I go back as fast as I can. When I come back to the forest, all flustered and huffing, I see what I feared. A large group of people are surrounding something or, much worse someone, and making a commotion.

Did you like the chapter? Honestly, this is not my first time writing, but it definitely is my first time publishing and having someone read this. So I'm extremely nervous. and I am very bad at controlling emotions so............... yeah........... I might contribute in making a water reservoir to help people suffering from flood and water scarcity, yeah.......... ugh that's why I put that bitchy note at the top. I hope you can consider a bit. Thank you very much.

Also, I'm not a native English speaker (Yes, I still decided to write in English afgbdkjdimvnjdgfu). So, I'm extremely sorry for any errors. I hope you can overlook this too.

(just realized that already asking too much)

Lastly, Thank you for considering reading my work. I really appreciate you, taking time to read this.
