Chapter 9: Diner

"You will never guess what happened last night!" Kelly pretty much squeaked obnoxiously loud in my ear.

"What now Kelly?" I asked

"So you know Brandon? Right?" she asked.

I nodded my head. "why?"

"He asked me out on a date."

"Cool." I said while my mind slowly started to drift off.

"Geez you can act a little happy for me." she said. She waved her hand in front of me and snapped her fingers to get my attention. "Thanks a lot brat for not listening."

I decided to not respond to her. She's annoying. most of the time anyway. But other than that.......well let's just say she's nice.. "Sorry Kelly."

"I know you have a lot going on but sometimes I feel you don't ever care about what I'm trying to tell you. Its kind of rude to act like that. Next time I'm telling you something, you better listen to me please." she said as we continued to walk in the hallway.

After she said that, the bell rang "Bye Kelly, see you at lunch."

"Bye Chica" and we walked away in different directions.

I headed to first period which was Art. Yes Art. My favorite period.

When I headed in I went up to an easel. I put down my bag and immediately got the paint to start my painting. I did a quick sketch of a garden with tons of flowers. I quickly thought of the picture in my head and jotted it down. After drawing for a few minutes I noticed in the corner of my eye, Anthony walked in. Crap!

"You can sit over there by Jessie" my teacher, Mr. Fran said to Anthony.

"Great" I murmured.

"Hi to you too." Anthony said without looking at me once.

I didn't say anything else and continued painting.

"You're really good at that." Anthony said as he watched me stroke the green paint across the paper.

"This is nothing. I'm not really putting much personality into this. They're usually less original and boring. I just hurried up and decided." I said still concentrating on my painting.

"I didn't know you painted." He said as if he were surprised by it.

"I didn't know you did either." I said and quickly looked in the corner of my eye to see him looking at me.

"Well I guess we never really had the chance." He said taking out brushes.

"Yeah, about that. I'm sorry about what happened. I mean how I acted when you came to see if I was ok. I was acting like a total jerk. I'm really so..." He cut me off

"I get it, I get it. You're sorry." He said while chuckling. "It's understandable. I would have been just as pissy as you were." he chuckled

I rolled my eyes at him. "so did you switch periods or something."

"Yeah its a long story." he shrugged it off

I narrowed my eyes at him for a moment.

He looked good as usual. Black jeans that fit him perfectly and a white T-shirt that hugged his body perfectly showing his muscles. He hair short but messy in the perfect way. God he looks perfect.

"Checking me out again?" he smiled

I rolled my eyes again "no I was just admiring your clothing."

"uh huh, sure you are. but that's ok, I check you out all the time."

I started to blush but hid it.

The rest of the day went by fast. At the end of last period I got a text from Anthony to meet him at Raina's Diner for coffee at 4. School got out at 3 so I would prob stay at school for a bit then head straight there.

I headed outside. It was 3:36 pm so I should be there right on time.

I fixed my hair in the school bathroom quickly. It was right around the corner so I walked.

As I started walking to the main road I noticed that there wasn't one person or car in sight. I started walking by a small forest of trees it was pretty clear since it day light out to see inside the forest.

A truck drove by. It was black like the night and had all tinted windows. I watched it go by and forgot about it once it was gone.

My mind wondered off and thought about Anthony. I walked a few more blocks when I finally reached the diner. My phone read 3:56 so I was good.

I headed in and couldn't find him. He probably just isn't here yet. I sat down at one of the booths.

"Hi what can I get you?" The waitress asked

"Waters fine thanks."

A few minutes later, she came over with the water. "Are you ready to eat?"

"I'm actually waiting for someone." I said and she nodded and walked away

I was starting to worry. It was now 4:36 and still no Anthony. I took out my phone to call him, when he finally walked in. But there was something wrong he looked scared and nervous.

He walked over to me once he found me.

He sat down next me.

"Is everything ok?" I asked

He wouldn't look at me "There's no time to explain." he looked around frantically. "I have 3 minutes to tell you something or he will kill me."

I started to freak out immediately. I was all the sudden scared and started to panic. "What the hell are you talking about?" I asked making him turn to me

He was looking down. I put my finger underneath his chin and made him look into my eyes.

"There is a man after you. He will stop at nothing until he gets what he wants. I cannot tell you how I found this out. There's no time. If he tells you to do something you need to do it. You can't go to the police about anything anymore." A stray tear fell from his eye.

"I'm going to be gone for a while. you cannot contact me but if I can, I will call you, email you, or send you a letter. And you absolutely cannot tell anyone about this. You NEVER saw me after school today." I nodded and wiped away his stray tear "Please, please listen to what I'm telling you or people will die."

"Ok" He put his hands on my shoulders and kissed me roughly on the lips for a minute. When he finally stopped my eyes stayed closed hoping he was still there. When I opened them, he was gone.

Questions filled my head. I felt scared and alone. And had no idea what the heck was going on.
