Prologue

"Do you, Finnegan Graham Walden, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health. Until death do you part?"

"I do." His reply was instant. No hesitation was heard in his voice. It was almost at if the decision to marry was decided long ago, because we truly did love each other.

Not at all like this was decided only a week before the wedding had begun.

"Do you, Madeline Louisa Crevuse, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health. Until death do you part?"

I forced a smile on to my face to make sure that everyone believed that this was the man I loved, that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with- start a family with.

'I do." I breathed out through my smile, staring into the chilling green eyes of the man seconds away from legally being my husband.

I looked down at our joined hands to the golden ring on my finger, and a matching one on his. The ring that symbolises our supposed eternal love.

I heard cheering; even though I had missed the words I knew we were now husband and wife.

"You may now kiss the bride." The cheering from his family got louder as he leant down to kiss me, and I reached up to meet him halfway.

Once our kiss had ended I turned to the crowds of people behind us. His brother's, cousins, sisters and, well, his boys. Cheering loudly as their no-good leader had finally found a woman. (I wasn't sure they knew the nature of this marriage)

My family, my friends and those considered close to this family. Clapping slowly, obviously not really caring for my preposterous marriage.

Walking down the isle again, my husband by my side, hand in hand. Joined in a matrimony with the sole purpose of ending a family fued.

But everything was going to be just fine. The man I loved I could never be with and the man I was with I could never love.
