Our Mate

Chapter 9

  "How would you girls feel about... Meeting my lion?" David asked.

Mist spit her water to the side. "Dude, we've only known each other a day!" She exclaimed.

  David blushed a little. His scent read embarrassed and afraid.

I laughed a little. "She's only messing with you!"

  David sighed. "So... Is that a yes?"

"Wait... Did you say lion?" I quipped.

  "I did." David replied. "What do you think?"

I though for a moment. Mist just continued to eat her pizza.

  David sat a little awkwardly waiting for our response.

'It's all up to you, he wants your response.' Mist thought.

  'Don't pressure me, you're his mate too.' I growled.

'Fine.' Mist replied. "David, I'd love to meet your lion. I'm curious, I've never met a lion shifter before."

  David perked up a little. "And you, Samantha?"

This is the first time he's called me by name. "I'm on board. Like Mist said, we've never met a lion shifter, or any feline shifter for that! I have so many questions!"

  David smiled wide.

I like when he smiles, seeing him happy makes me happy!

  David closed his eyes. When he opened them they were a very light hazel, almost gold. "Hello Beautifuls, I'm Romeo."

  "Seriously?" I asked.

"What, were you expecting Simba, or Mufasa?" Romeo laughed.

  "Kinda." Mist countered.

Romeo smiled.

  "So... Lion shifter... Is that why your hair is so long?" Mist asked.

"One of the reasons." Romeo said slyly. "Also becoming Alpha has taken away from getting my hair cut.  A few compliments later and we decided to just keep it this way."

  "I didn't, know that lions had packs." 

"Well we don't, not necessarily, lion packs are called prides." Romeo explained.

  "Oh yeah!" I laughed.

"You said you have questions?" Romeo quipped.

  "What's your favorite thing to do?" Mist asked putting her hands on cheeks.

"I like to be in my lion form." Romeo answered. Romeo stepped off of the stool and sat on the floor.

  'What is he doing?' Mist asked.

'Beats me... Maybe he's gonna shift?' I replied.

   Romeo took a deep breath in and shifted into a giant lion. Bigger than the I ever thought could be possible.

His mane was glorious and his coat silky with a beautiful sheen.

  My and Mist's eye's widened.

"He's so big!" Mist exclaimed.

  Romeo stood to his feet and walked over to us. 

I panicked a little. I knew it was just him, but I guess not knowing how to deal with lion shifters got to my head.

  Romeo stopped in front of Mist.

"I figured it out!" I quipped.

  Romeo looked over towards me.
