Truth Or Dare (On Hold)

Chapter 4

Beam's POV
     The constant ringing of my phone woke me up from my sleep. I took my phone from the bedside table and looked at the caller.

  "Hello Pha!!" I answered the call and looked at the sleeping Forth at my side. "Yeah! What is it Pha? Wh-what? Yeah yeah. We'll be coming now."

   I rubbed my face in frustration. 'what just happened! Why does it look like everything is falling apart' I thought gripping the phone tighter.

   "Beam?" I looked up at Forth, who is now rubbing his eyes and looking at the watch. "Why are you not sleeping? It's still 3!"

   "Forth. I just got a call. We need to go to hospital now" I said him with a tired voice.

Forth's POV
   Beam was driving his car. I sat at the passenger seat thinking about what Beam said just now. I never thought that Yo would do something like this. To think that Pha found him unconscious is very terrifying. I don't know what I would have done if something like that happened to Beam.

   I stared at Beam. He looked back at me. "What is it Forth?" He asked looking back at the road.

   "Is it my fault? If only I had stopped Pha from doing that stupid dare. I messed up everything. Didn't I?" I choked up.

   "Hey" Beam squeezed my hand, "stop blaming yourself Forth. This is not your fault. Let's just hope that You recovers well. Yeah"

   I nodded my head and closed my eyes.

   "I'm just worried about Pha" I opened my eyes again on Beam's words.

   "Huh?"

   "He might be blaming himself for what happened. I bet Ming would have killed him by now. I hope Kit takes care of him untill we reach there." Beam said with knotted eyebrows.

   I sighed. We were silent till we reached the hospital. After parking the car, Beam called Kit to know where To is taken.

   "He is in emergency room. Let's go" Beam said. We entered the hospital and walked to the emergency room. I saw Ming sitting at one end of the waiting area. Kit was rubbing his back while he was on the verge of crying. Pha was sitting on the other end with his elbows on his thighs and his head bend down and his hands tugging his hair lightly.

   Without my knowledge, my legs took me to Pha. I tugged his hand away from his hair. He looked up and his eyes showed me so many emotions.

   Within a second, his face became expressionless and he snatched his hand away from my hold.

   "Why the hell are you here. Can't you leave me the fuck alone" Pha hissed and faced away from me.

   'ouch! That hurts' I flinched at his words. But I couldn't reply back. I just stood still.

   "Pha!! Don't say something that you might regret later" Beam came between us that moment. "Calm down Pha. I know you are worried about Yo. He'll be fine. Did you called his dad yet?"

   "Yeah. I called him while coming to hospital. He is in China right now. He said he will be coming as soon as possible." Pha said rubbing his face.

   "Mmm." Beam turned to face me, "Forth! Come let us get something to drink for our friends"

   I looked at Pha, who was avoiding eye contact with me. Then I looked at Beam, he shook his head subtly, asking me not to disturb Pha. I sighed and followed Beam.

   When Beam and me returned with coffee for everyone, Pha was talking to a doctor. Ming and Kit were standing beside him.

   Upon reaching near them, I could hear the doctor reprimanding Pha. I was baffled seeing that.

   "He is Dr Kongthanin, Pha's dad." Beam answered my unasked question.

   "Sorry Dad. I didn't expect this. I'll take care of him, once he recover. I'll not leave him alone dad." Pha mumbled with his head down.

   "I never expected this from you son" Dr Kongthanin said with a disappointed tone.

   "He is still unconscious. We have done stomach pumping. Now we need to wait for the blood test reports, then proceed from there. So I can't say anything till then. Did you informed his parents?" His dad asked Pha.

   "Yes. His dad is on the way" Pha replied.

   "Ok then. I'll see what I can do. Rest assured" he patted Pha's shoulder and went inside the emergency room.

Narrator's POV
   Few hours later, a middle aged man in an expensive suit, sauntered towards the emergency room.

   "Uncle, you are here" Ming got up from his seat and approached the man in suit.

   "Yes Ming. How's our Yo?"

   "Doctors are still treating him uncle. The chief doctor asked us to inform you to visit his room, once you have arrived." Ming replied.

   "Oh. Ok then. I'll come back after consulting with the chief doctor." Yo's dad said and walked away.

   "Is that Yo's dad?" Kit asked Ming.

   "Yes Phii. I have mostly grown up at Yo's home. Yo and his dad are more like a family to me." Ming answered Kit with a thin smile.

   Forth, who was listening to Ming, got up from his seat next to Beam and walked to the seat where Pha was sitting.

   He plopped down on the seat next to Pha and cleared his throat.

   Pha looked up at Forth and sighed, "Look, I'm sorry for speaking harshly before. I'm just not in my right mind."

   Forth just looked at Pha with unreadable expression.

   "Shiaaa. What do you want me to say Forth? You want me to confess my undying love for you? When Yo is inside the room fighting for his life."

   Forth blinked.

   Pha gritted his teeth. "Fine" he hissed. "I have been feeling something for you since our first meet. I tried to avoid it but I couldn't. Then my high school love Yo came into my life again. I thought that I belong with him. But I couldn't control my jealousy whenever I see you with other people. Then Beam came into your life and I suddenly felt like I lost both you and my best friend. I was going crazy, Okay.. ..but I can't continue like this. I want this to end."

   Forth showed some emoticon for the first time since he sat there with Pha. His eyes filled with hope. Pha cringed looking at those brown eyes.

   He looked away from Forth. He saw Yo's dad entering the emergency room with his dad. "I'm choosing Yo. Even if I have to beg him to take me in his life again. To give me a second chance."

   Forth slumped his shoulders. Tears welled up in his cold dead eyes.
He cleared his throat once again. "I can't force you to like me Pha. If you are happy in whatever you choose, then I'm happy for you too. I haven't gotten a chance to say this. I wanna let you know.. one last time.. I love you Pha. Always have. Always will. Goodbye" Forth stood up.

   Pha's chest tightened on listening to Forth's words, before he could act upon that, a loud booming laughter heard from the emergency room.

   Ming and Pha rushed inside the room on instinct. Kit, Beam and Forth followed them.
  
   Entering the room, the five guys stunned looking at the view before them.

   "WHAT THE HELL!!!" Ming shouted.
