Frozen in time

Travels

I walked into the palace after being called upon. The king of my town had asked me to take a letter to the king of the town called 'Forestgrove' it was on the other side of a long forest from us. I didn't have a horse so I had to walk there. Its around noon now.

I left the castle to go walk to 'Forestgrove' to give King Maldon the letter from my uncle. My uncle was a body guard of the king of my town, and me being a 13 year old messanger and trader it was hard to survive out in the world but I've made it this far.

It has been about 3 hours since I left the castle and all I can hear is the cry of wolves and the 'hoo's' of the owls. It was getting g dark out and it had just started snowing again after a day of no snow. It snows a lot here. I sat down at the base of a big, dead tree. It was kinda warm. I got up and started moving again.

I had been traveling for a few hours by now and I needed to stop and have something to eat. I stopped by a tree and sat down to look in my bag to see what was giving to me. My uncle knows what I like to have while traveling and that's what I found. A cooked rabbit, some vegetables from our garden and a few fruit from our tree. I hope this is enough to last me as long as I needed.

I had fallen asleep somewhere around 12:45 am that night and when I awoke there was a girl sitting next to me.

"H-Hello." She said in a soft, shy voice. "I-I need your help. He's coming and I see that you h-have a w-w-weapon." She sounded more and more paranoid with every word.

"Who is this he?" I calmly asked her and gave her my extra dagger. She explained everything over some food and ran away a while later. I continued my travel to go to town. Still thinking of the girl this is the way she came from, I can see her foot prints in the snow, and she had ran the other way. Maybe the guy she was talking about was one of King Maldon's solders but then again why would she be scared of a soldier.
