||Octavian||
I lay in bed that night, (after watching another episode of Sherlock with Rachel) thinking about today. Under the pine tree today, talking to Rachel like that, it made me feel kind of weird. And walking back through camp, holding hands... it just made me feel even weirder. But it was a good kind of weird, and I loved the feeling.
Breakfast the next day was strange. Instead of people ignoring me, like they usually do, a lot of people smiled me. And it was really awkward, because after that, I didn't know what to do. Was I supposed to smile back? There was also the constant chatter that followed me around. Everybody around me seemed to be whispering to their friends, instead of just talking normally.
Then halfway through my breakfast, things got even stranger.
Leo walked over to the Roman table and slid into the seat beside me.
"Hey Octavian" he said, dragging out the n in my name.
"Um, what do you want?"
"Well I was just wondering how it's going between you and Rachel!" He said with a grin.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, my brow furrowed in confusion.
"I'm talking about what everyone else is talking about! First you made her cry, and then you went off to make her feel better, but nobody could see what you were doing up there! But everybody suspects kissing, because you walked back holding hands and grinning like crazy!"
"What?! No! We never kissed! And why would everybody think we did?"
"Dude, gossip spreads like wildfire here."
And he was certainly right.
But the rumors going around camp didn't change my day. I spent it the way I always do, in the cave with Rachel. Today we watched Supernatural, because we had finished Sherlock. Supernatural was a bit scarier, and at one point I was squeezing my eyes shut. She teased me about that one.
We came back from dinner when Rachel said "Hey, Octavian?"
"Yeah?" I replied.
A grin spread across her face before she even started talking.
"We're going to a party."
