STAN'S POV

I WOKE UP an hour later, turning slightly to one side, and stretching my arms out slowly.  My eyes opened, blinking closed almost immediately as the lamp beside the bed shone directly into my eyes. I quickly realized I was not in my own bed, and began to look around the room, searching for a clue of where I was.  The room belonged to none other than Violet Haynes.  I couldn't help but get butterflies just thinking about her name.  Turning over slowly, so as not to alert her that I was awake, I began to admire her from afar.  She was deep in her thoughts, pencil scribbling rapidly across the paper as she sketched.  The sun was shining through the window behind her, and the view was absolutely breathtaking.

Violet looked up from her sketch pad slowly, meeting eyes with mine, as I looked away quickly.

"Why don't you take a picture next time? It'll last longer," she teased, as I hid my face under the blanket.

It smelled just like her, cinnamon and vanilla, and I couldn't help but keep my head under the blanket just a little while longer.

Violet made her way across the room, slowly sitting on her bed.

"Next time you come over remind me to not let you sleep the whole time," She joked, causing me to reply "heyyy," defensively.

She smirked, the right corner of her mouth raising slightly, and let me know she was heading to the bathroom.

I watched her leave, and began to mentally slap myself over and over again.  I couldn't develop feelings for her, I just couldn't.  She was quickly becoming my best friend, and I didn't want to ruin that for us.

What if I was  the only one who felt this way? I wondered, sighing slowly.  I closed my eyes once again, letting the sleep overtake my body.

I heard a scream from the bathroom, and threw myself out of the bed.  Sprinting, I reached the bathroom door and shoved it open.  Violet was curled up in a ball on the floor, her knees to her chest, as she rocked back and forth quickly. I noticed the tears falling down her cheeks, and tried to shake her out of her panicked phase.

"Stop," she mumbled, "why won't the room stop shrinking?"

I realized quickly that she must have been imagining things, and continued to shake her, trying to help her wake up.

"Spaces getting smaller," she whimpered, "red balloons everywhere."

At the mention of balloons, I quickly scooped up Violet,  and removed her from the room itself , laying her down on her bed.  She began to sleep, breathing slowing down, as her chest began to rise and fall at a steady rhythm.  I covered her with her blanket, and she reached out slowly, grabbing my hand and pulling me next to her.

"Stay," she whispered slowly, before she knocked out completely.

I curled up beside her, our fingers still intertwined, looking at her face from up close.  She looked so at peace, and as her hair scattered across her face, she was truly a beautiful mess.

I didn't understand how I had gotten so lucky as to become one of her best friends, she was absolutely perfect in every way, and I was just Stan.  I wasn't spectacular, or interesting, or funny, I was just me.

I fell asleep once again, this time to the soft sounds of Violets breathing.

THE PHONE RANG startling me awake from my sleep.  I reached over to the night stand and answered it groggily.

"H-Hello?" I mumbled into the phone, trying to be quiet so as not to wake Violet.

"Stan?" Beverly asked on the other end of the line, "why are you answering Violet's phone?"

Shit.

I was never going to hear the end of this.

"Please don't say anything to anyone Bev, Vi had a rough night, and I fell asleep here." I begged, not wanting word to get out to the guys.  I knew that if any of them knew, I'd be ruthlessly taunted for as far into the future as I could imagine.

"It's fine, I understand, " she replied, obviously chuckling on the other side of the line.  No one was around to see it, but I could feel my face flush pink.

"I just wanted to tell you that I need you guys to come over quickly," she said shakily.

"I need to show you something"
