DISGRACE

~

I've been on a wave all night and day

Trying to feel a broken high

Taking another one to numb the pain

I can't lie, I love the ride

I can't get away from this

Another day and I might go insane

~

! BEEP! BEEP ! BEEP!

I groaned as I opened my eyeballs before shortly slamming them back shut. I felt the rays of light were beaming through my eyelids and they burned. I heard the sound of soft snoring in the background along with the beeping of monitors. I knew where I was and it wasn't where I wanted to be. I knew they pumped those pills out of my system and I wish they hadn't.

It was then that I had felt a lump move around my arms and then, one towards the end of my bed. My eyes lifted slowly as I saw my baby cuddled against my waist and Giovanni asleep at the foot of my bed. A smile spread across my face as I stretched.

It was then that a blonde haired nurse walked into my room with a bright smile on her face. She placed her clipboard on the counter before walking to some machines behind me. She looked towards Giovanni and my baby with that same smile on her face but this time, more empathetic. She wrapped the sphygmomanometer, or the blood pressure meter cuff, around my arm while then putting the pulse oximeter (the clip they put on your finger) onto my pointer finger.

"I'm just here to triage you, a doctor should be with your shortly." She smiled after she removed everything from me.

I just nodded my head before reaching for the water on my side table. Giovanni shuffled in his sleep before he effortlessly ran his fingers through his hair. I expected him to wake up but he hadn't. He just reached his hand up and rested it on my thigh, probably causing an unnoticeable blush to rise to my cheeks.

15 minutes later, after watching the walls do absolutely nothing, a tall dark haired man walked into the room with a slight smirk on his face. He looked down at Giovanni before looking back at me, slyly. I tilted my head in confusion as he pulled his clipboard out.

"Hello, Ms. Bennett. My name is Doctor DeLuca, but you can call me Andrew." He smiled, showing his dazzling rows of beautiful teeth.
