As the bus finally pulled into the car park behind the school Emily sighed and took her headphones off, unplugging the jack and shoving them into the top of her grey backpack. There were no other buses in the car park that day so hers easily swung round and reversed into its usual spot by a tree. As soon as the bus scraped to a stop - it really needed some better brakes - everyone on the top deck stood up in unison and made their way to the stairs near the front. Emily waited until someone let her out and made her way off of the bus. Alone despite the crowd she walked through the back gate, the PE block then emerged in the Quad; the school's large centre courtyard.
Spotting her friends under the plastic shelter where they always met she picked up her pace. There were three such shelters in the Quad, theirs which they actually shared with two other groups of Year 10s, another which was full of Year 8s and an empty one. They didn't complain - they only came here before school started. The other two groups were here at break and lunch as well.
Joining her friends beneath, Emily greeted Jordyn who was nearby. His group was one of the ones who stayed there at lunch and break, but they only ever talked to each other in French lessons - they sat nearby then. She stole a quick glance and returned her attention to her other friends who seemed to feel she hadn't seen them for six months or something. Come on, guys! I only saw you yesterday! Suddenly, the bell for the start of school rang, a simple three rings of the fire bell. Immediately, everyone started moving towards the nearest set of stairs or towards the clump of smaller buildings nearby.
Emily and her friends headed towards the furthest door, with Jordyn and his friends a little way behind. He wad the quietest one in his group and some would say he never smiles. But he does smile; sometimes. When he isn't glaring into empty space, anyway.
A flapping of wings snapped Emily from her thoughts. Before she had a chance to react something blue swept her off her feet and a hand covered her mouth, stopping her from screaming. Which may have been a good thing - she didn't have your average girly scream. Emily soon found herself suspended above the school, held aloft by some unknown thing.
Below her she could see her friends looking up in confusion and fear, pointing upwards. Above them was the roof of the school, and above that Emily could see her own limply hanging feet, joined by another pair equipped with heavy duty boots. A red glimmer momentarily attracted eye away from the mysterious footwear, drawing her attention to a glimmering red flying creature. Glittering in the morning sun it steadily gained height until I suddenly saw it wasn't a dragon, but in fact a boy with dragon wings. And a tail. I feel that may need pointing out. Then it hit me that it wasn't one boy - but two. The winged boy seemed to be holding on to someone else. Before I had a chance to wonder what the hell just happened and why I wad flying high above the school, my captor suddenly dived, swooping low over the school and eventually gliding down to where a van is waiting just outside the front gates of the school, the red boy following close behind.
As we approached two people climbed out of the van. The van was black with Genekinesis written on the side, the people were a middle aged man with blonde hair and a boy of about 15, also with blonde hair and what looked like purple scales? His hands are coated with them and they shone a rosy pink in the sun, and strangely enough, he had a tail as well. Oh come on, it's not even 9am yet and things are already too weird to describe! Suddenly, my confusion turned to panic as I felt whatever was gripping me loosen its grip, and as the two people below brought out a sheet I was dropped into it and bundled up before being thrown presumably into the van. I lay there; stunned, blind and confused. There was a thump, and I hear something else slide along the metal floor of the van and bump into my side with a grunt. Well, at least I wasn't alone. I heard the man and scaled boy climb into the front, and two other people into the back. The engine started, and I groaned as the throbbing from the engine started up a throbbing in my own head, before I was lulled into unconsciousness by a mixture of vibrations and voices.

Ah man, this was hard. Again, I've been trying to cut out all the boring bits and completely overloading with description; and by the way, this chapter was from Emily's point of view (not sure if I made it clear...). Structured criticism is always welcome, and praise even more so! I'm not sure if my switch from third to first person should have been accompanied by a tense switch from past to present, but hey? That's up for debate! Anyway, thanks for reading!
(I'd like to mention that the picture is property of Rick2E on flickr - I've used it because it's actually the exact bus I'm on about! G801 TBD has always been my favourite of the school buses, along with the other two "TBDs" G742 and G729. If there's any issue I'll remove the photo.)
