Tension?

Ryan starts leading me around to the front of the ship which I think is a bit wierd since I thought we would go to where the crew would usually stay. He stops by the deck and stares out into the water.
"Um, are we going to see if I can get a room or...?" I start to ask before he turns towards me, his face hiding no signs of the smile that was there before.
"Listen Tina. You have to trust me here. I know you're staying with Alexander Belrose and you seriously need to get out there as fast as you can" he states bluntly, I catch his jaw tighten.
I am silent for a few seconds, taking in what he said.
"Excuse me? How could you possibly know who I'm staying with? We just met. And also, don't tell me what I should or should not do" I feel my walls rising up, my defence mode turning on. I did not take orders very well, especially not from someone I just met.
I see his eyes widen slightly, he probably didn't expect me to be so straight up and forward with him I guess.
"No no, you're not understanding the severity of the situation. You need to.."
"TINA"
I jump slightly, startled by my name being called across the deck. As I turn around I see Alexander jogging towards us. I can't help but stare. The sun is shining directly on him, making his slightly tanned skin glow.
"Hey sunshine" he smirks when he gets close to us but when he turns to Ryan I see a warning glint in his eyes.
"Hey...I... um.. this is Ryan. He's helping me get a new room" I stammer, well aware of the sudden tension between the two men.
"Yes we know each other" Alexander states, moving slightly closer by my side.
What the hell is going on?
"Well, I wouldn't say we know each other. We know of each other would be a bit better, don't you think Alex?" Ryan responds, turning to face directly at us, his shoulders squared.
"It's Alexander." He says, gritting his teeth.

"Right Alex. Anyways, I'll take your leave now. Tina, I'll put a good word in to the crew and they will certainly change your room for you. I advise that you do that as quick as possible to avoid any... further interference" Ryan coolly gives me a look but I know there's a hidden meaning behind those words.

"Yeah she will. Now bye" Alexander suddenly cuts in and I elbow him in the stomach.
"He means, of course thank you Ryan. I really appreciate your help. Maybe we could meet later on?" I politely question, trying to make up for Alexander's sudden rudeness.
Beside me, he tenses even more.
A smile takes over Ryan's cute features again and he nods his approval.
"I suspect we will be meeting more than just a few times Tina. I'll see you around" He states, walking away not even acknowledging Alexander.
Suddenly Alexander turns his full attention on me.
"You have to stay away from him. He's not what he seems." He says, I catch the slightest amount of panic in his eyes.
"What are you talking about? Shouldn't you be with ur girlfriend?" I question slightly irritated by the confusion around me.
"My girlfriend?" He asks, his eyebrows rising
"Yeah. Don't try to act all innocent. I've seen you with her at dinner last night and at breakfast this morning. You could have told me. Why aren't you two staying together anyways?"
He stays silent for a few seconds, as if wondering what to say next. Suddenly an irritated expression takes over his face.
"That's none of your damn business," he snaps
Excuse me?
"Oh so you can tell me to stay away from Ryan when hello! I don't even know you, or particularly like you for that matter. I can't even ask you a simple question about your girlfriend? Who do you think you are?" I particularly yell at him waving my arms in the air for affect.

He takes a deep breath and runs a hand over his face, rubbing his eyes. He seems to do that when he's stressed or nervous.

You've been paying a lot of attention to him have you?
5$ to whoever wants my subconscious...

"Listen. I don't give a fuck about what you think so that's why I'm telling you this... Catherine is my girlfriend but we have vowed to each other not to lose our virginity until marriage, which is why we are staying in separate rooms okay? Now let it go" he states.

Woah.
I don't know what to say to that. My first reaction is admiration. I didn't think of him as he guy who would do that. Looking at him, he could easily get any girl he chose but he chose to wait. I know most guys would not be willing to do that.
My second reaction however, is jealousy.
Cold hard solid jealousy.
I can't even try to hide it from myself because I know it's there. Like a low throbbing, not too painful but reminding me of it's presence. Jealousy, I decide, is one of the worst emotions. It leaves you helpless and alone with nothing but self doubt and insecureness.
You have nothing to be jealous about. He's not yours. I remind myself.

"Oh. Um. Cool. Well anyways, I'll try to get a room today but if I can't I will have to stay with you another night" I say, silently praying he doesn't object.
"Yes of course. Don't worry about it" he says before walking off.

That was strange. Just this morning he was urging me to get a new room but after my talk with Ryan his whole demeanour has changed. Something is definitely wrong.
I'll just have to find out just what's going on in the mind of the great Alexander Belrose.
