Michelle POV
It's been five years since I've earned my bachelor's in design. My baby girl Serenity is growing up so fast she's already 7 years old. That's not the only thing that is new about her, when Serenity was born the doctors diagnosed her with Down-syndrome. A few weeks later I started to notice her perform normal activities as a baby and as a toddler. When Serenity had her check-ups I would ask the doctor if they diagnosed her correctly because I wasn't seeing any abnormal activities. The doctor did a couple test on her and it was a shock to everyone that she did not have Down-syndrome. I was so furious and confused because I trusted the doctors with their scope of practice. It took a while to process everything but regardless if my baby had Down-syndrome or not I was still going to love her the same. Regardless of that, I realize that I can accomplish and balance a lot with anything that comes my way.
Matt and I recently got married at "Two Lovers Point" in Guam. He gave me the biggest wedding a girl can ever dream of. We had fire throwers, chefs on the grill, and live music from John Legend, Erkyah Badu, and Mystikal. Matt had his connections with the performers because no way in hell could I ever make that happen. Our colors were light yellow and white. He was looking so spiffy with his Saint Laurent white tux and his light polka dot handkerchief slightly coming off as a bold move. His loafers were to die for. Each rhinestone on his shoes was complimenting his silver earrings so effortlessly. All of Matt's family came out and I even decided to fly out some of my family members from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Majority of my family members that came out I haven't seen since I was a little girl. A lot of them seem to remember me though, but I couldn't say the same. Even seeing Serenity walk down the aisle in her Chanel dress throwing rose petals was the cutest thing ever. Joanna surprised me and got a plane ticket just to come all the way to Guam from New York for my wedding.
A few months after the wedding, Matt end up getting an email saying he must play football in New York and their time duration to stay there would be four months. I was devastated. Handling Serenity and going to work was already enough stress for me to handle. Now with Matt gone and no one to be here to watch her, it put me in a hole to where I had to make the decision that I will either quit work for a while to watch serenity or keep bugging my mom to watch her. I don't always like asking my mom to watch Serenity, but I will not put my child in the hands of a baby sitter. I came across way to many videos on social media of baby sitters beating up other people's kids. I don't have time to be going to jail! It's better to stay in Atlanta with Serenity anyways, it's easier for her to stay focus and just worry about finishing school. I just hope Matt and I relationship doesn't fade and he keeps his promise that day at the hospital.
