I stand at the door, looking at the screen embedded in the wall beside it, watching the two masked males look for the door. I press a button and speak into a microphone in the wall next to the screen.
"What do you want?" I ask hostilely.
"We need your help Cynthia." The shorter one says. "It's not for me, it's for Damon. My brother is dying Cynthia, please, I... we need your help." He takes off his mask to expose an attractive 17 year old with short dark hair and a strong jaw line. His bright green eyes contrast his tanned skin so nicely.
'He left, remember?' I scold myself for admiring him.
The taller one, Damon, pulls off his mask. He looks almost exactly the same as his older brother, but his skin has a slightly green tinge to it. The Terainian flu. He needs Cyliumis, and fast. I look back towards Seth, who's staring at his little brother, his face twisted in pain. Seth looks back at the camera and seems to be staring right into my eyes and heart.
"Cynthia..." Seth begins but I cut him off by hitting a button on the wall that opens the door. Seth stares at me standing in the doorway in front of him. He hardly recognizes me as the girl he once knew. "Cynthia." Seth says, sounding breathless. "You look so different from how I remember you."
"Eight years can do that to a person." I reply, my voice venomous. He flinches, good, I hope that hurt, you bastard. He starts to say something, but Damon cuts him off.
"Can you two save the flirting until I'm not dying anymore, please?" I shoot him a look but once I see how much more green he is in person than on the screen, I soften the look.
"Come with me." I say without looking at Seth. I can't stand to look at him anymore.
I walk straight to me room without looking back, they'll follow or they won't. I throw the door open, Cass was gone, just as I expected she would be. I walk to the kitchen and throw open a cupboard and grabbed the flask Derek had grabbed for her earlier.
"Classic, Cynth." Damon jokes when he sees what the flask says and I smirk, I can't help it. I grab a shot glass, pour the orange liquid from the flask into it and put the flask back where it belongs. I turn and hand Damon the shot glass. He looks at the glass for a moment then downs it all in one go. Damon hands back the glass and I watch as Damon's face quickly becomes a much more natural colour. I can feel Seth's eyes on me, but I make a point not to look at him.
"Alright," I say as I turn away from the boys to clean the glass. "If that's it, then I guess you guys should be heading back to wherever it is you two have been for the past eight years."
"Actually," Damon says with a new strength to his voice. "We don't have anywhere to go. Mom has been dead for years, but last month..." He looks down at the floor, unable to say more. Fuck.
"Last month I killed your father." I finish for him. I sigh as I turn to face the boys I once knew. I regard them wearily.
"Cyn..." Seth starts but I raise a hand to cut him off. I stand silently for a long moment, examining them both thoroughly.
"Why don't you stay with your father's pack?" I ask finally.
"Bunch of pure breds." Damon answers bitterly. "Won't let us stay." I nod and sigh deeply, I'd already known the answer. I walk to the end of the counter where the side of the upper cupboard is covered in labelled keys. I grab two, making sure there is a spare of each key still on the hook and throw one to each of the brothers.
"These are the keys to your rooms. Don't lose them. You cannot have any drugs on the ship, ever. Don't even bother trying to hide them, I will find them. Got it?" I look back and forth between the two of them as I say it. Half Terainians tend to get addicted to drugs so I feel the lecture to be necessary. These boys weren't the types to get into that sort of thing, but then again, I'm judging that based on who they were eight years ago.
