Rubiks cube is a puzzle or a toy that was invented by Erno Rubik in 1974 originally called magic cube. The puzzle was liscensed by Rubik in 1980 via bussiness man Tibor Laczi and Seven Towns Founder. This toy won an award for the best puzzle of that year. As of January 2009, millions of cubes had been sold worldwide. Till now it is considered as the best-selling toy.

On the original rubiks cube(3x3), each of the six faces is covered by nine stickers. There are also stickerless cubes which doesnt uses sticker for it's colors, they painted the color onto the peices of the cube. There are six color on this cube:red, orange, blue, green, white, and yellow. Sometimes, red can be replaced by pink. This rubiks cube is said solved if all the color on each side have the same color. Example, for the side wtih the red center pieces, you must make the side is all red.

After the first batches of the rubiks cubes were realesed in may 1980, intitial sales were the modest, but ideal began a television adverstising in the middle of the year which are suplemented with newspaper. At 1981, rubiks cube had become a craze and it is estimated that inthe period of 1980 to 1983, there are 200 millions rubiks cubes that are sold. As most people could only solve one side or two/ even could not solve it, numerous of books were published to guide the people how to solve that cube. Even Erno Rubik himself took a lot of time figuring out the method to d=solve that cube.

Rubiks cube continued to be marketed and sold till now. Because of that, many community created a rubiks cube competition like in 2003. The tournament led to the formation of the world cube asociation which are created on 2004. Annual sales of rubik branded cubes were said to have reached 15 million worldwide in 2008. Part of the new appeal was ascribe to the advent of internet video sites such as youtube. Following the expiration of rubiks patent in 2000, other branded cubes appear especially from china.

A standard rubiks cubes measures about 5.7 centimeters on each side. Thr puzzle consists of 26 unique miniaturecubes. Each of these includes a concealed inward extension that interlocks with the othercubes while permitting them to move to different locations. However, the centre cube fo each of the six faces is merely a single square facade. These provide structure for the other pieces to fit into and able to rotate. So there are 21 pieces( not including the centre pieces)

The original 3x3 rubiks cube has 8 corners and twelve edges. There are eight(40,320) ways to arrange the corner cubes. Each corners has three possible orietation. There are a lot of types of rubiks cubesuch as the 2x2 which has 8 pieces. There also a pyraminx which is also a rubiks puzzle but its not a cube.
