Butterflies

A butterfly is a beautiful creature

One of innocence

Many connect beauty to butterflies

And its true, they are

Their colorful wings

Their graceful flight

Their majestic patterns

I once knew a butterfly

She was a monarch

Never had said or done wrong

Till once day it flew on a flower

And was stolen from her life

Pushed into a jar

Months passed

Her beautiful wings shrunk

They shriveled

They fell from her back

The tears from her face

When the jar opens

Who knows what they'll find

Not even the once pretty butterfly.
