"Hey new girl!" Yelled a boy down the hall. He was tall, up close I was like a shrimp to him. He had shaggy brown hair with a little bit of a faint blonde hue to it.
I look up towards the boy before shutting my locker and heading to my next class. "Hey! Where are you going?!" Yelled the boy. "To class!" I yell as I turn to the boy while still walking.
The boy catches up and gets in front of me stopping me from walking. "You're Danny right? I'm Mason." He said.
"Hi Mason and yeah, I am" I respond.
"Me and my friends were wondering if you wanted to hang out after school?" Mason asked with a big grin on his face.
"And who are these friends of yours?" I asked curiously. Mason pointed behind me. I turn around and see three students standing in front of the lockers looking back at me.
"What are we going to be doing?" I say while turning back around to look at Mason.
"To the movies to watch the new Mario Kart movie and maybe after, we go crash a party?! If you're down of course." Responded Mason.
"Now that sounds like fun! Count me in." I say with a devilish smile.
"Okay, meet me in front of the school when you leave your last class." Mason says happily while walking back to his friends.
I continue heading to my next class. When I get to Mr. Skinners science class I head for a seat in the back. In each class, people would always look at me. Maybe it was because I was new? Even when I got adopted a couple times, nobody ever looked at me like this.. it made me nervous. Was there something on my face? All my teachers wanted me to introduce myself but I always shook my head trying to avoid all the attention.
2:00pm
After all 4 classes were over, I went to the front of the school to meet Mason. I start looking for him before spotting him standing in front of a dark purple Dodge Charger. He signaled for me to get in the front so I did. He got into the drivers seat and somebody else got in the back. The other two students got into a red convertible and took off with us following them.
By the time we arrived at the theatre, we all got out of the vehicles and walked inside to wait in line. "Hey Danny, I want to introduce you to my friends. This is Duncan, jasper, and Rachel." Mason says as he points to everyone. They all wave and say "hello" with enthusiasm. I wave back and smile.
They continue into the line until they all have their tickets, popcorn, drinks, and candy. They hand the man their tickets while he rips an end off. "Thank you and enjoy your movie." The employee says while giving us a fake smile. When we are all seated, I sit on the end next to Mason while Rachael is in between jasper and Duncan. You could clearly see how much of an uncomfortable position she was in but it was my business to pry.
During the movie, me and Mason share a couple glances and smiles and 'almost' ended up holding hands while reaching for the popcorn.
When the movie ends, we all throw away our snacks and head for the exit. Mason grabs my hand and leads me away before the others follow. Taking me to the side of the building, he pushes me against the wall so we can hide. Laughter starts erupting from both of us thinking about how we ditched Rachael inside with jasper and Duncan. When we stopped laughing we are staring at each other deeply for a moment, Mason leans in to kiss me. I know I shouldn't kiss back since we just met but there something about him that I find comforting so I kiss him back.
After a hot minute of kissing and making out, I hear Rachael outside so I break it off. "Come on, we better go crash that party before someone else decides to beat us to it." I say trying to calm my heart down.
"You got it sweetheart" replied Mason with a sad expression, like he didn't want the kissing to stop. I take his hand and walk towards Rachael.
"Thanks a lot guys, it was so awkward in there." Said Rachael with relief.
"Sorry Rach" Mason said with a big smile. Rachel looks down at us both holding hands before getting all giddy. I give a hesitant chuckle before letting go and walking towards Masons car. Everyone else does the same before heading towards the party.
Once we arrive, Mason runs over to my side of the car and opens the door as he takes my hand and escorts me inside. Rachael and Duncan exit the convertible and head towards the pool to swim, Jasper goes to play pool with some other guys, and Mason and I go into the kitchen for a drink.
I pour myself a drink from the keg while Mason goes off to check on the rest of his friends, while drinking I hear my name but nobody near me said it. I think back to when I first got to school and heard those boys beating up Kevin. 'I must have sonic hearing or something? Nah, that'd be stupid, they're probably right around the corner.' Laughing to myself, I start listening in.
"Hey dude, didn't you say that new girl stopped you from beating up Kevin?" Said the stranger. "Yeah, why are you bringing it up again?" Questioned the host in a quite grouchy tone. "Would you be mad if I said that she's here?" Replied the stranger. "She's what?!" The party host looks over the railing and sees me walking into the living room.
I notice a kegger that everyone is at doing handstands so I set down my cup and use my upper body strength to do one on it while somebody holds the hose to my mouth. I chug tons of beer as everyone starts chanting before pushing myself off landing on my feet. "WOOHOOO" the crowd shouts. I take a half ass Cinderella bow before heading towards the living area.
The party host rushes down the stairs as he starts scanning the room looking through the crowd for me.
