It was early morning, around 6:30. Kuru was seated comfortably in her bedroom with her Starbucks latte in her right hand and manga in her left. Her hair was pulled loosely into a messy bun, and One Direction music bumped in her cat ear headphones. The only light in her bedroom was the gentle splash of sunrise that teased through her blinds. Completely at peace with nobody to bother her, she sipped her latte. Life was good. Or at least, she thought.
"Hey you FUCK!" someone screamed. There was a loud SLAM! as her door was kicked to the ground, and in her surprised state she spilled her latte all over her copy of Cockroach Luv. She felt her heart fall at the loss of her drink and the newest volume of her favourite hentai, but she would address those grievances later. Standing in the doorway stood Ricochet, her roommate. The light of the ascending sun caught their glasses at an angle that blotted out their eyes and drove an icy dagger of fear through Kuru's heart. She could feel her latte rising in her throat.
"What - what is it? It's six in the fucking AM!" Kuru yelled back in response.
"Pack your fucking bags babe! I'm a broke ass bitch so I sold you so that I could afford my vape juice!" Ricochet announced triumphantly. They withdrew the vape pen from their back pocket and took a sick ass fucking rip so tubular that Obama started to cry. Kuru coughed as the scent of bubblegum filled the room and the harmful chemicals of second hand vaping entered her lungs and began routing to her brain. "Fuckin' hustle. You've got an hour 'til they get here."
Tears welled up and spilled out of Kuru's eyes as she shoved her clothes haphazardly into her backpack. She glanced around the room, attempting to savour every last moment she had left living in it before she would be whisked away to live with some stranger. There probably wasn't even a Starbucks where they lived. A fresh flood of tears poured from her eyes at the thought of leaving everything behind. Her anime posters smiled at her from the wall, pleading with quiet eyes for her not to leave. "I'd stay if I could," she whispered to them under her breath. "But I have to leave. I'm sorry." More tears. Her cat Michi padded softly into the bedroom and began to paw and meow at Kuru in hopes she would give her food. In her sorrow, she grabbed Michi and stuffed her inside of the backpack with the rest of the belongings she would be taking with her. Michi screamed in protest, but Kuru couldn't hear her wails over her own anguished sobs.
It took around half an hour, but finally Kuru finished packing. She took a final step back to soak in as much of her room as she could. The scent of Ricochet's vape long faded, she took a deep breath in an attempt to savour the watery aroma that had graced her every time she drew a breath for years now. The walls held memories turned bitter, as Ricochet was present - they had always joked that they would sell Kuru to Satan for a corn chip, and they actually had, except it was to some unknown assailant so that they could buy their cotton candy flavoured vape, even though they knew how dangerous it was. Heavy, heavy tears flowed easily from her eyes and fell softly to the luxurious carpet below. A sharp knocking on the doorframe intercepted her fuzzy thoughts and snapped her attention away from the past and drew her back to the present. Ricochet stood in the doorway, sucking greedily on their vape as if it were their source of oxygen.
"Hope you're ready, cause your owners are here," they muttered through a mouthful of fog. Kuru coughed again and slowly dragged herself towards the door, hesitantly following Ricochet to what she presumed was her eminent demise. She wiped her face on her sleeve, dragging away the snot and tears produced by the pain of the last hour. She figured she should at least look somewhat presentable to the people who she would be living with from now on. Michi screamed loudly from her backpack; she hadn't realised she was in there until that moment, but now it was too late for her to take her out. The two of them were going to have to tough this out together. With a final shudder as they reached the door, Ricochet grabbed the doorknob. Kuru felt her heart leap into her throat as the door creaked open. She almost collapsed when she saw who was standing there.
"Hello! We're here to pick up... Kuruchi?" said a familiar looking man. He was wearing a red sweatshirt with some sort of green insignia on the front along with a pair of jeans. Standing with him were 5 other men who looked almost identical to him, except for their different coloured sweatshirts with matching insignia and different facial expressions. There was another one in blue, one in green, one in purple, one in yellow, and one in pink.
"Oh my god, it's the Matsuno brothers!"
