(Character) and Makoto had been high school sweethearts. The iconic couple everyone wanted to be; cuddling, hugging, as many kisses you could ever dream of and more! Who didn’t want to be the ultimate power couple?
The two met their first year of high school and went to the back-to-school dance. Little did they know this was the start to a lifetime of love and support. During the dance, they would talk, laugh and get to know each other.
Little did (Character) know, they had three periods together; first period math, fifth period computers and sixth English.
Over the course of four years, they stayed together, growing stronger than ever. They’d sit with each other during their lunches and make plans for the weekend or during their vacations.
They loved each other more than anyone could imagine, but only knew that it was going to continue growing and strengthening.
Finally, once they graduated their senior year, they had planned to go on a week long trip to go to a beach town in Southern California; Cambria.
They would stay at a nice, small hotel right across from the beach. The cool, salty wind would rush into their room during the morning and night when they left the back patio door open.
They’d stand on the balcony, watching the water crash against the sand, birds soar by and crash into the water, and see families walk along the shore with their children running up ahead.
On the second night, Makoto invites (Character) down to the shore when there would be a large bonfire on the shore. Makoto had the plan on proposing to (Character). He wanted to be with her for the rest of his life, and never let her go.
So when the time came, he slid the small black velvet box into the large pocket of his hoodie and wrapped an arm around (Character), the other arm in his pocket and holding the box tightly.
They spent about an hour and a half on the beach, sitting by the fire and running through the small waves that slammed against the sand.
Once the timing felt right, they got down on one knee and slowly slid the box out of their pocket, opening the case to expose a beautiful silver and diamond ring.
"My love, please turn around.."
(Character) turned to face her lover and gasped softly and sharply, covering her mouth with her hands. Her eyes became glossy and small, subtle tears started to form in the corners of her smiling eyes. She looked down to Makoto in shock and surprise, cheeks and nose flushing a deep, rich red.
"Will you make me the happiest person ever, and promise to spend the rest of your life with me..?"
Makoto asked, his cheeks flushed a deep red and small tears form in his eyes as well. He waited in agony for her reply, his heart pounding in their chest.
(Character) managed a frantic nod before quickly wrapping her arms around Makoto, making them collapse onto the sand.
The other people around them cheered and applauded, them too smiling brightly.
(Character) cried softly into Makoto’s shoulder, smiling brightly and laughing in excitement and happiness.
After a moment, they slowly sat up and Makoto slid the beautiful ring onto her finger. They watched as it shone in the fire and moonlight.
"I love you, (Character).."
