Sorry for the long awaited update, but here it is!

Chapter 3

Everything was in magazine cutouts. The words were all different shapes and sizes and I recognized some of the letters from the latest 'Seventeen' magazine. This person really wanted to keep their identity a secret.

The letter was pretty long. I took my time scanning it quickly, not exactly focusing on the letters. Finally, I read it word-for-word.

Alessandra Ambrosio,

This is your next assignment and without a doubt, it is the most difficult task you will ever have to face in your whole entire life. At this moment, I'm unable to reveal anything. We have to know that we can trust you. If anything goes wrong, we need to make sure that there's no way we can be tracked down.

That's why we leave this in your trusting hands. The partner that was assigned to you, it is without a doubt the best option. We haven't got a clue who he is but you have to be able to work with him and trust him. You're in it together.

What you are working for, it's vital that you get it done within a certain amount of time. And it's not going to be easy because we can't tell you who it is; at least not yet.

This woman, she's smart. We don't think you have the proper training yet but we know you have it in you. Which you why you have to figure it out yourself. A test of skill.

Find the clue in this letter, it's in here somewhere. Find it and kill the person. Your next assignment will be given to you after that. We wish you the best of luck.

I read the passage given to me.

"When you look clearly, you will see. Read between the lines, your mind entirely focal."

And that was it. There were no solutions, no other hints. There was just a measly sentence that could mean anything.

“Are you serious? What kind of clue is this?” I wondered out loud.

I racked through by brain for any possible training I’ve learn on encoding this, but none came up to my mind.

Before I could ponder on the passage any longer, my door suddenly opened.

I sat straight up, looking at Mason walking in.

“Hey… Gavin just gave me the birds and bees talk,” he suddenly blurted out, blushing crimson red, “and he would stomp on my nuts if I break your heart.”

I burst out laughing, “Seriously? I didn’t think he was that kind of person!”

"And he also told me he's not your father. He sure played it well."

I had to agree with that. "What's that?" Mason pointed to the letter in my hands and made a grab for it. I quickly pulled it from his grasp and turned my back on him.

"It's just the letter I'm supposed to figure out. I'll get back to you when it's complete." I shoved the paper in my back pocket and started to gesture that Mason should leave. "Are you staying here by the way? Because if not, I have your number so I'll just ring you later..."

Mason silenced me with a kiss. I wasn't even expecting it, barely glancing at him. I started to relax a little before I felt his hand move around until he got a hold of the letter, and stanched it right out of my hands.

“Hey!” He conned me!

He opened the letter and started to read it. I glared at him angrily and started to hit his arms.

"No need to be bratty, Ella. The letter says that we should cooperate. I'm a great guy, you know..." His voice trailed off as his eyes ran itself across the paper. He pursed his lips, in a way that meant he was thinking... Maybe analyzing it.

Then again, all he knows is his karate. How was that supposed to help us in our desperate time of needs?

After what  felt like hours, he finally gave me a reply.

"They're in Florence, Italy."

I don't think my eyes ever opened wider than it did right then.

“How the hell did you figure it out? I’m a trained operative and I didn’t even have a clue!”

He gave me a look that says, ‘did you really think I’m that stupid?’

“My mother would teach me how to unscramble anagrams,” he started to explain, “I guess this just comes in handy in the future. Who would’ve thought?”

I must’ve had a very confused look because he explained further.

“You see, it says ‘When you look clearly, you will see. Read between the lines, your mind entirely focal.’ If you look at what the words ‘Entirely Focal’ and unriddle it, ‘entire focal’ says Florence, Italy!”

Then it clicked. How could I not see that coming? But then again, Gavin didn’t teach me any of this.

I was the first to speak up. “So what should we do now?”

He smirked at me, “We’re going to the city of love, babe.”

I smacked his head, “That’s Paris… Idiot. It’s the city of spaghetti!”

“You don’t have to be so physical…” He said, while rubbing his head. I think that would have a bruise pretty soon. Whoops...

“Whatever, let’s go on our date now. We can deal with this tomorrow.”

"You have to kiss my boo-boo first," he demanded.

Seeing him pull his stubborn face on, I knew there would be no way around him, so I went on my tippy-toes and gave him a very big, and wet sloppy kiss on his forehead, making him squeal.

"Hey! That wasn't fair!"

"You never said I couldn't do that," I smirked. I was quite literal when it comes to doing favours for others.

Taking his hand in mine and putting the envelope in my purse, we made our way to my surprise planned date.
