The Last Day Of
Summer"Amina, can we go please?! We're gunna miss the whole damn party!" I groaned as I slumped further into her desk chair.
"You don't even want to go so why are you rushing me?!" She whines as she reentered her room from the bathroom, her hair blow dried and straightened, makeup done up and red lipstick smeared elegantly on her lips.
"I don't but the faster we get this shit over with the faster I can come back and watch Bobs Burgers. So get a fucking move on already." I flipped casually through a comic as she slid her heels on.
"Can you dress a little bit more woman like you damn nerd?" She begged with a roll of her eyes followed by a pout.
I look down at my ripped black skinny jeans with my beat up converse and my oversized Dare Devil T shirt.
I rolled my eyes before going to her drawer to find a better shirt.
"I'm keeping the jeans. I'll wear my black vans and my leather jacket. I'm not doing my hair." I mutter before slipping my shirt off and pulling one of her shirts on, it was a tight tank top with gold trimming and a sheer texture exposing my red lace bra underneath.
By the time I'd slipped my jacket on I could hear her friends screaming obscenities from the living room, shocked that I was going out too. The walk through the Bronx with them indiscreetly gossiping about my attire that I was seldom seen in, was rather uplifting, I felt beautiful.
It was the last day of vacation before my first year of college and I truly hadn't done shit over the summer except work and watch Hulu.
I tossed my kinky curls into a wild bun on my head, some tendrils accenting my face. My brown skin gleaming from the Jasmine body oil.
Let the night begin.
I wasn't much of a fan of anyone in my high school or neighborhood for that matter but it truly was the last time I'd see any of them for a long while, after deciding to leave New York to go to Georgia.
The walk was filled with my sisters friends screaming and giggling and sharing pictures of boys and videos of the people already at the party.
"I'm glad you came out Trina." The nicest of my sisters friends, Mia, said with a warming smile.
"Thanks. Not sure if I'm glad yet." I muttered making her chuckle.
"I hope you have a good time."
"I hope you do too." I say before continuing my depressed stare as we entered the station. Tonight should be uneventful, my life always is.

The party was in full swing when we arrived. Plastic red cups had already been discarded all over the front yard as well as a few drunken teens sprawled out in the grass.
I sighed.
I'd truly prefer to be home. Maybe I could find the stoners, they usually migrated to the basement so that was my first stop.
