Chapter 4: Battle among friends

(A/N: Nope, it's not the theme from Kirby 64: The crystal  shards) 

In the previous chapter...

-Is it just me or is the Waddle Dee trying to say something to us?-asked Meta Knight.

-Oh, let's see... Waddle Dee, do you have somethin' to say?-asked King Dedede to the little one.

The Waddle Dee pointed behind the expecting males. There stood the darker versions of their friends Sword Knight, Blade Knight and Escargoon.

-Huh? Where did those come from?

-I do not know, but I am sure they are not friendly.

Meta Knight laid once more the chess set and took out Galaxia.

Sword and Blade took their swords and charged at Meta Knight.

-What a lack of chivalry and fairness-he said jumping and hitting both of them with Galaxia.

Dedede looked at the dark version of Escargoon. There was something off with this, wasn't it? Who sent the right-hand snail of the king and the two best friends of Meta Knight to fight them? It didn't make sense a villain wouldn't do that. Or at least, a true villain. 

-You two! Have you got swords for brains?-shouted Escargoon-One of you go and attack the king! 

-Yes, sir!-said Blade going. 

Dedede took his hammer out and hit him in the head once. Blade fell unconscious to the floor. Then he charged at his sidekick.

-How dare you order them to attack your king!-he shouted hitting him five times with the hammer.

Escargoon fell to the floor, unconscious too.

-This is too easy for a challenge-said Meta Knight-I think it's a trap or something.

A shadow emerged from all three of them. 

-Why you... You little pests... You shall face a darned nightmare, fools, do you really think you can fight me!?

The creature somehow ripped the reality creating some kind of portal. The portal, acting as a black hole, sucked Meta Knight and King Dedede along with the three friends up. And then sent the knight with his squires to some strange land where there was already someone waiting as well as King Dedede and his sidekick to another place, where one of King Dedede's worst fears awaited. 

Meta Knight looked up to find he was kneeling before one of his past rivals: Galacta Knight. This time, he looked different though. He was slightly darker than usual and he looked in a daze. He also had a more powerful aura. 

The "screen" flashed yet again, revealing a boss intro.
"Nightmarish Warrior
Dark Galacta Knight"

-How does it come I saw this coming?-said Meta Knight in an annoyed tone.

Dedede got up to find that the snail had recovered its original coloring and they were in a very familiar place.

-Huh, the Fountain of Dreams? What are we doing...?

Before he could finish off the sentence, the same dark creature appeared with what seemed to be the Star Rod... But it didn't look like it was, it looked rather cursed.

-Time to teach you a lesson, Dedede-the creature said throwing the Star Rod onto the Fountain of Dreams-Let's see how do you do against a past "eNeME" with a little boost... Behold the Power of the Cursed Star Rod!

Out of the Fountain, like usual, came Nightmare, but it certainly looked stronger.

The "screen" flashed yet again and it displayed the boss intro.
"The incarnation of bad dreams
Nightmare (DX)"

-Well, I'll leave you two to "talk" it out.

Both of them got into fighting stances, ready to face their respective enemies when their Allies woke up, this time without being controlled.

-Sir Meta Knight, let us fight by your side-said both squires to their mentor.

-Your Majesty, you shouldn't fight by yourself, let me help you!-shouted the snail getting by the King's side.

Meta Knight and Dedede were glad, but slightly surprised. Why would their enemy grant them Allies to fight by their side when they're trying to get rid of them?

But instead of worrying about that, they decided to focus on their fight, completely forgetting that the chess set was still on the floor back in their world.

Meanwhile, in Castle Dedede, a certain creature was smirking while "sitting" on the throne.

-Grow, my little warriors, grow, the true nightmare has just began...

With a creepy smile, he cackled evilly... Or at least, it looked like it. The fact that they were giving a fair fight and the little common sense left signaled that the darkness didn't reach where it wanted.

A/N: Apologies if this chapter was too short, but I couldn't fit the next fight within a Chapter under that title from above. Also, whatever would it mean that the true nightmare just began? Oh, who cares, it will come out sooner or later.
