Chapter 2

"Max, hurry up!" I yelled up the stairs, we were meant to be having dinner at Cameron's house before the party, and it's been taking him an hour to get ready.

"Be down in a sec" he called back.

"Mum can I just go, its five doors down, and there's still some daylight, let him walk when he's done"

"Kristen, honey, just calm down, he'll be down in a sec. Just be patient," she said while she continued doing her paperwork.

"Fine," I grumped as I sat on the couch. My mum's music was playing throughout the house, mostly only Robbie Williams. Not my favourite to listen to. Lucky Max came down the stairs. I jumped up, "Finally! Max let's go, see you mum," I said picking up my bag, I walked to the front door, Max following close behind me.

"Ok, you two have fun, tell Mandy I said hi," there she was again.

"Ok, bye," Max said as he shut the door behind us. "Why do you always rush me?" Max wined.

"Cause you were making us late, and shouldn't I be the one saying that, since I'm the girl?"

"Well mum said I had to-"

I cut him off, "Maxy, it's Friday, couldn't you have just said that you'd do it tomorrow?" He didn't reply, "Exactly, and anyway, tonight's gonna be fun, so just enjoy it. Ok Maxy"

"Fine and can you stop calling me that, I'm not little anymore"

"Well as long as you're my little brother, I will call you Maxy," I said as I messed up his long curly blond hair.

"Hey, cut it out," he complained, trying to push my hand away. We walked the rest of the way laughing. The trees swayed in the light breeze, the fresh air was cool against my arms, making me wished that I wore a jacket. The sun was just visible over the horizon, leaving a perfect sunset.

We walked the rest of the way to Cameron's house, his house was wide open, and welcoming as usual. Balloons hung from the terrace, mailbox, and some of the trees around the house.

"Hey Kristen, Max, come on up," Cameron called from the terrace.

The house was filled with party things, balloons covered most of the house, his living room was turned into a dance floor, with different coloured lights everywhere, I could see the dj setting up in the corner closest to the back glass door. Outside was just as crazy as it was inside, balloons, lights, and the pool, which I knew was heated, had lights all through it, glade I was wearing my swimmers, Max and I made our way upstairs, dazed at how good the house looked. Another dance floor was upstairs, pool table in the corner where Cameron's two older brothers; Jason and Andy were in the middle of the game. The bar was set up in the corner, and a table about five metres long, filled with food.

Cameron was sitting in between his mum and dad on one of the many tables set up. "So, how do you like it?" he asked, a huge smile on his face.

"It's awesome!" Max said as he sat down in front of Cameron's mum, "Oh and mum said hi"

I sat in front of Cameron, "So, what about you, what do you think, people gonna like it?"

I knew my mouth was hanging open like a retard, but I was so amazed, nobody thought it would end up this good, not even Cameron. "It's amazing, and trust me, you have no worries about people liking it, there gonna love it." I finally said.

"Well that's good," Cameron's dad, Anthony said, giving me a happy smile, I smiled back, "Let's have some dinner shall we," he said as he got up, making his way to the table of food, "Take whatever you like," we all followed. Max went straight for the fried food, while Cameron and I went for the pastas, his mum made the best.
