- be yourselfAllison was prepared and ready to seize another great year like in 2018 where she forced herself to study the periodic table and learn about 100 songs on the ukulele. On the 31st of December she woke up bright and early around 5 in the morning ready to start and end the year right, even though she knew half of her family won't be available to spend the New Years together due to work. While waiting for her parents and sister to wake up, Allison decided to paint with her sister's watercolor markers, eating sour patch kids from her cousin's birthday last month, and watching her favorite show, "The Good Place". About three hours later the rest of her family woke up and made a big breakfast, pancakes, turkey bacon, eggs, French toast, and fruit bowls. Allison took it all in since she won't be eating that amount of sweets by 2019. After they all had breakfast the two sisters walked over next door to visit their grandma's house since their cousin's came over early, also for the New Years. Their parents came much later (because that was where the party was happening) after tidying up the house by putting coins around the house and rice and fruits in the fruit basket since that is what most Asians MUST do before New Year's Day for good luck in the household.
Meanwhile Allison, Veronica (her sister), and their two cousins Kailee and Stephen helped their grandma prepare lunch or should I say, pre-dinner for the rest of their relatives whom are coming over.
"Did you guys make any resolutions for the new year?" Allison's grandmother Maria said, as Kailee had responded saying "Yes, I want to eat as much olives I can in one month and see what happens, since I just love olives so much!" Everyone started laughing as they were setting up the utensils, plates , and bowls. "How about you anak?" Maria was pointing with her lips to Allison. "Oh, I have a list, like a long list!" "As long as me?" Stephen asked, "You could say that" Allison responded.
New Years was going great for everyone, including Allison, because who wouldn't love spending time with family on the New Years?
Since almost half of her family had to work on the New Years, there was only 10 out of 21 family members who came to their grandparents house to welcome the new year.
It was already 10 pm and everyone had already finished their dinner. While everyone was waiting for the clock to strike twelve, everyone sang karaoke, watched Christmas movies and then by 11:50 they turned on the regular tv for the New Years ball drop.
It was time...only ten seconds away til 2019 hits, and this is when Allison will begin her new life.
