"It will be in about an hour." Officer Morgan said.
As soon as we entered the palace I was greeted with bright, golden lights, and a spiral staircase that was covered in blue lace. Next to me I heard Bianca gasp in amazement. I just rolled my eyes. It wasn't that I didn't think the palace was amazing or beautiful but I just found it outrageous that while they got to have a glimmering palace covered in gold and silk, when back home it was a mystery if we were going to eat that night.
Then Officer Morgan led us up the spiral staircase that had way to many stairs. When we finally reached the top he started to lead us down the hallway past an abundant amount of rooms. The doors were all painted in either red, a creamish white, or a light blue. I suppose the doors were supposed to be a sort of "patriotic symbol".
Suddenly Officer Morgan stopped in front of red door that at the top read #348.
"Okay so this will be your room. Remember the number and don't loose the key. Then suddenly he handed a singular golden key to Bianca.
WIth an annoyed look on her face she grabbed the key and jammed it into the lock. The door opened with ease and we both stepped inside.
" Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the rest of our miserable lives." Bianca muttered.
When I woke up I was laying down on a basic white cot. My head was pounding and my left arm felt numb. I felt like I had been ran over by a train. When I tried to stand up my head was filled with what felt like fuzz. Then the dizziness overcame me and I fell back down on the cot. I rubbed my temple, trying to sooth my headache but nothing helped. Then a nurse came into the room. She had orange hair and light brown eyes. I quickly recognized her as the head servant staff, Rena.
"Hello young prince are you feeling better today?"
He wrinkled his eyebrows together in confusion. Then it all came back to him in blurred motion. He remembered how he fainted after the contest. He also remembered seeing her. I laid my head back on the cot and sighed.
"Can I please be alone for a few minutes?" I said to Rena, who was standing by the door giving me a concerned look.
"Sure i'll be back in half an hour with dinner." she said then quickly left the room.
I rubbed my temple, trying to get rid of my painful migraine. It just didn't make sense whatsoever. They looked exactly the same. Heck they had the same name! After that night in the garden it hurt to even hear the name Cameron. Then suddenly some girl who had same name and looked exactly like her shows up. It was just so confusing. Not only did it break my heart but it just made me angry. I watched someone murder my first love right in front of me and I had absolutely no idea who it was and there was nothing I could do.
Suddenly a figure stormed threw the door. It was a man with a short beard and neatly cut brown hair.
"Father" I said undelighted.
"Don't father me you idiotic boy! You had one very simple job and you messed everything up! He said. His face was red and his teeth were clenched. I knew right away he wasn't in a joking mood. I could tell he was mad but I just didn't understand why.
"What are you talking about?" I said.
"Your stunt with the contest, you had to know I would have found out eventually."
"Your seriously mad about that? It's just some stupid contest." I said annoyed at his pointless outburst.
"Don't play games with me. Your the prince for god sake if your told to do something then you do it."
At that moment I snapped
"Oh i'm the one playing games with you? Your the one keeping secrets, and do't even deny it for one second because i'm not as stupid as you think I am. I know your hiding something and it has something to do with Cameron. your nothing but a liar so please just leave."
"Now!"I said when he didn't leave, "I am not someone you can push around anymore."
I close my eyes exclusively as I lay down on the plastered twin bed. The room me and Bianca were given was painted a light blue. It didn't have anything in it but two twin beds with simple tan sheets and two oak dressers that had 6 of the same outfit inside them, a light brown button up shirt, black pants that I had no idea what material they were made of, brown ankle socks and a pair of new black shoes.
"Wow look at this" Bianca said with enthusiasm. She held out a white envelope that had a piece of paper inside.
I lifted my head up from the feather pillow and looked at the envelope closer.
"Where did you find that?" I said.
"Hidden in the closet", she said "should we open it?" she said her eyes pleading.
"Bianca it's not nice to invade other people's privacy. Maybe someone was here before us and it was theirs but it's not nice or polite to just go around and open things that are not yours."
She rolled her eyes.
"You sound like my mother." Bianca said then she suddenly ripped open the envelope.
"Bianca!"
"Relax" she said while she rolled her eyes for what seemed like the 500th time that day.
Her eyes scanned across the paper then suddenly her face got white as snow like she had seen a ghost.
"What's wrong?" I said.
"Read it" she said her voice breaking with every word.
I shrugged and took the letter from her.
Dear Parker
Time is clearly running out. I know more than i'm allowed too and i'm in danger, and i'm afraid my foolishness may affect you too. Once again there is no time to explain but I need you to find a girl named Scarlet Ferris. She's the only one who can explain this.
"Wow cool I said this is probably some thing from like World War Two or something" I said.
"Read the name at the bottom" she said shaking.
I shrugged then looked at the bottom of the paper.
Love Cameron Connors.
