Chapter 1: Late as Usual

"Shit, shit, shit, shit!!", I yell as I speed and weaved through traffic. I had overslept after soccer practise. I had to get to the club before my band went on. Being the bassist and lead singer means I absolutely HAVE to be there.

I'm a part of a cover band with 3 others. A lead guitarist, a rhythm guitarist, and a drummer. Mainly punk rock, alternative rock, and classic rock. And boy was I going to be late. And I still needed to warm up. I guess I could just put in a cd or something and sing. Pulling out my cds, and thumbing through them I decide on 'Folie A Deux' from Fall Out Boy. I shove it into my cd player and almost immediately I hear 'Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes' and start to sing along with Patrick, trying to match his pitches and notes.

I pull into the parking lot two minutes before I have to be on stage. I grab my bass and rush in the back doors. As I ran backstage I heard someone yell, "why the hell are you so late?!"

I whipped around and saw our drummer, Carrie. "I am so sorry!! I got home from practise and fell asleep on the couch"

She just rolled her eyes and smiled, "whatever, you better be happy the band before us is running behind so you have about an extra 10 minutes to do your hair and makeup". I nodded and grabbed the makeup bag, brush, hairspray, and outfit for tonight. I fixed my electric blue-freshly dyed hair into its normal scene look and dowsed it with hairspray.

My outfit consisted of my brand new "Welcome to Paradise" Green Day shirt, directly from Hot Topic, Black hi-top zipper converse, a fitted denim vest that I left open so my Green Day shirt is visible, and a pair of bright green skinny jeans to match the writing on my shirt. I threw some eyeliner and mascara on as dark as I could and ran back to my bass.

I have a 42 year old blonde Fender P-Bass that I have cherished ever since I got it. I grabbed it by the neck and an extra pick and took off towards the stage where everyone else already is. I sprinted on stage, waving to the crowd as I ran to the mic. I leaned to it and yelled, "Hi, my name is Jasmine and I showed up extremely late!!" And with that we jumped into our first song, "Spirit of the Radio" by Rush.

Mike's P.O.V. (I feel weird writing in a man's point of view, let alone someone famous, but oh whale)

Early this morning I got a call from someone I thought I would never hear from again, Celeste. She didn't say much, but what she did say was that I had a daughter. A daughter. A 16 year old little girl. I couldn't say anything, just stood there in shock. She told me that she was in a band and was playing at a club tonight, she gave me the name and address of the place and just hung up. I stood like a rock, like I just got punched in the face. I hung up the phone and whispered to myself, "thanks".

I called Billie once I had collected my thoughts and explained the situation. He told me that he would come with to the club with me. Hell, I was nervous as shit. What if she's into that Justin Bieber One Direction crap? What if she's nothing like me? And worst of all, what if she hates me? I was panicking now. Billie tried to calm me but it there wasn't a point. I told him that I would be by his house by 6:30 to pick him up before the concert. I called Tre next and re explained everything again. And once again he said he'd be there too.

Somehow I managed to keep myself busy to pass the time, but finally it was 6:15 and I headed out to pick up Tre and Billie. The ride consisted of silence and the quiet drumming of my fingers on the steering wheel. My stomach was doing flips.

Billie reached over and stopped my fingers from tapping. "Dude, its going to be fine".

"Yeah, but what if its not?" I retorted. It came out a little harsher than I had meant. "I'm sorry" I quickly added.

"Hey, its fine. I get it, this is stressful." Billie replied while clapping a hand to my shoulder. "How about some music?"

I breathed in and out slowly and nodded. Eventually we got to the club...5 minutes late. Damn. We walked in and there were a group of guys on stage. Confused wouldn't begin to describe my feelings. I went to a waitress and asked her about the band that was supposed to be playing and what she said made me feel so much better. According to her this band's set was running late and she should be on next.

As the minutes tick by I get more and more nervous. When finally the current band gets off the stage and hers comes on. I can immediately tell which one is her. She is carrying a blonde bass and waves to the crowd. She walks up to the mic and yells, "Hi, my name's Jasmine and I showed up extremely late!"

They start off playing "Spirit of the Radio" by Rush, and I smile because I have a feeling we like the same music. About a minute in she starts singing, and I smiled. She has an amazing voice. I haven't even met her and I am so proud.

Billie wraps an arm around my shoulder and turns to smile at me. He must be thinking the same thing.

Holy shit, I have a daughter.

Jasmine's P.O.V.

After we had played some Rush I grabbed the mic off the stand and walked forward a little, "I don't know about you but I think its time to get a little, how do you say, 'Punkier'?" I smirked at myself for making up probably the greatest new word.

Our rhythm guitarist leaned into his mic and turned towards me, "Punkier?" he said with a laugh.

"Yes, punkier". I said with a laugh. "Hmm, how about some Green Day? Sound good?" I asked turning to the rest of the band.

We started playing 'Welcome to Paradise', my all time favorite song (A/N not lying). About halfway through the song, before the bass solo, I was walking around on stage and tripped over a cord, bashing my forehead into a cymbal. I was able to catch the cymbal before it fell, but felt something dripping down my head, just to the right of my right eyebrow. Shit. I must have sliced it.

I wiped my hand over it to get rid of the blood that was there and walked back up to the mic just before I had to start singing again. Every chance I could bring my hand away from my bass, I wiped my forehead. By the time the song was over, the back of my right hand was completely red and I'm sure my face didn't look any better. I walked to side stage and grabbed a towel that just happened to be white and a ponytail holder.

While putting my hair into a ponytail I walked over to the mic and said, "Damn, guys. I just might need stitches," I dabbed the towel to my head, "But not yet. We've only played two songs. I can't just leave now." The small crowd cheered and I smiled.

"So without further ado" I said just before playing 'Thnks fr th Mmrs' by Fall Out boy.

We played for about an hour and a half before thanking the crowd and walking off the stage.

I went to the closest mirror to check my cut. Carrie came up behind me and said, "Hey, we're gonna take off, go get that checked out ok?"

"Yes of course" I smiled at her. She patted my back and left me alone backstage. I just bummed around backstage for a while. Its a Friday, I don't have to do shit tomorrow.

After a while I figured I should clean up my hands and face and get the hell outta here.

Just as I was about to walk out the door when someone called my name. I turned around and almost fainted at who I saw.
