"OH MY-" I screeched before Izzie slapped my mouth shut reminding of the promise we just made to not freak out.
"Please don't tell us that's real..?" Valeria asks dreadingly.
Sarah nods slowly staying silent as before.
"D-does it hurt?" Brianna asks trying to look away from it but failing.
"Thankfully no, but it's making me go crazy. Like how does something from a dream just happen at the same time in real life huh?!" Sarah says growing more panicky."Now now, calm down mija" Izzie comforts, taking her hand off my mouth.
"Izz how can I calm down when a bite from my dream apparently come into reality? Huh?!" she raises her voice.
"I know I know but please don't shout."
"Does anyone else know about it?" I ask her.
"No, you guys are the first to know, and probably the only ones that are going to know."
"Mmm, good call." I reply grabbing my bag to get my phone to search something.
That bite looks so familiar...
"Alicia, seriously?" Izzie scorns me before turning back to Sarah "You should tell your parents to take you to the doctor.""No, are you kidding me! My parents would freak out if they this bite. They'd probably put me in a hospital. Plus, this isn't anything normal. I was looking up pictures online for something that looks like it, but I haven't found anything." She sighs, then more calmly says,"I'm gonna research more later today."
"The good news is that you're feeling okay now." Brianna reassures as we all nod in agreement.
"Thanks guys, but can we talk about it later, I'm hungry." Sarah tries to laugh it off going for her lunchbox to eat a ham and cheese sandwich, clearly feeling uneasy about the conversation. Valeria and Brianna went back to their seats to eat. However I could tell Izzie was hesitant to change the subject, but decided to not nag Sarah
anymore about it.
"Same, I'm starving!" I yell digging in my lunch to find a cold burrito. Heck. Yes. I engulf myself into it, hearing my friends around me laugh, but I didn't care."Alright alright, now I have just one question to ask you all," Valeria announces the table. "Team Captain America or Team Iron Man?"
"Wait, didn't we ask that question already" I say with my burrito-stuffed mouth.
"Who cares, just answer the question" she retorts poking my side.
"Oh well, you already know it, Team Cap all the way!" I cheer proudly.
"Pssh, nah man, Team Iron Man" Izzie counters.
"You mean Tin Can?" I smirk.
"Don't you dare start Alicia. You're only Team Star-Spangled Man because he's hot."
Just as I was drinking my Iced Tea I spit it back, slam my bottle on the table and shriek back
"NO! That's not true! I 100% agree with his stance! The Avengers were just doing their jobs and it's not like he doesn't care about people! He does what is right and not what's easy." I go back to my tea before I mutter under my breath "Him being hot is just a bonus.."
"What was that?" Izzie snickers but I quickly stuff my burrito back into my face and shrug innocently.
"Okay..." Valeria sighs then looks to Bri and Sarah "What about you two?""Oh well, to be honest, I know zero about the whole Civil War going on, but with some research, I'm gonna go with Captain America!" Brianna rambles.
"I'm with Team Cap too" Sarah replies.
"Geez guys, you're outnumbering me?" Izzie
jokingly shakes her head in disappointment.
"Captain America's just right my dude" I say struggling to comment through the burrito, but manage to make out words without choking.
"Okay but seriously Sarah, stay safe alright," Izzie cautions her.
"Yeah, I'll text you guys in the group chat," she reassures.
We all go back to eating our lunches and return to our norms. Sarah and Valeria love gossiping about people an going on around the school. Brianna is half-listening to everyone else while reading one of the hundreds of books she owns like the book-worm she is. Izzie prefers to either doodle or observe everything and everyone around here. More specifically, one person. I haven't asked nor told her, but I've seen her staring at this one guy from time to time. Unfortunately, I don't have any classes with him, so I can't even check out the guy and what he's like. I want to her about it, but she's keen on talking about her romantic feelings for anybody.I notice out of the corner of my eye a familiar face walking over to our table shaking his head in what seems to be disappointment.
"Guys, how does obtain a memory-erasing neuralyzer?" he says as he sits down across from Izzie.
Valeria pauses her conversation with Sarah and turn to him "Victor. What the heck is that?"
I jump in to answer "It that thing in Men In Black that erases people's memory, and no I don't..unfortunately."
"Damn it...I need one for next period."
"Why?"
"I was gonna use it to make my teacher forget about a 5-page essay we have to turn in today that I didn't do."
"I don't think that's how it works. It can't erase specific memories. It's based on how much time you want to 'reset' them to."
"What? That's bullshit."
"Oi, language," Izzie steps in "We have children present." She says that as she points to Brianna and pats my shoulder.
"H-Hey!! I'm only one year younger than you!" I protested. I'm not letting someone call me a child slide by!
"Yeah but you're a little sweetheart that needs to be protected," she teases, now patting my head.
"Pssh, whatever" I pout crossing my arms and acting like a child. Yeah I'm a hypocrite, sue me.
Meanwhile Brianna simply looks up from her book, shrugs, and goes back to reading.
Everything was normal. A comfortable normal, but it was also an uneventful normal. I know there's so much more out there we can be doing, but instead life has us stuck in this loop. That is until we are adults; that's when life will really kick us into motion. However it feels so far away and yet not at all. Heck, we're all high school sophomores. Only 2 more years until we are thrown into 'the real world'. But until then, I wish there was something more for us.
