The first test in the folder was Math. Pretty straightforward. It was a mix of Algebra and Geometry. I think I did pretty well, nothing that I hadn't learned yet. The second was Robotics. This one was very difficult. I mean sure I tinkered in my free time and my electrokinises helped me charge things, but half of the questions I made a logical guess. It was kinda like science, which I was good at, so I used that prior knowledge to help me. The final test was History. That was simple. Just questions like, "What were the first hero schools in the US?". All in all I thought I did pretty well. The food survey was fun. They gave you a list of different options that you would choose from. All of them were made in the gourmet cafeteria.
After about an hour, I had finished my tests and was waiting for my name to be called. Five minutes later, it was my turn. I walked into a room filled with jewels and satin curtains. In the center was a small round table low to the ground, surrounded by plush purple chairs. In one of them sat a tall, regal woman with long wavy crimson hair and big violet eyes. She introduced herself as Ms. Goldstien. I sat in the chair across from her and waited.
"Okay hun, let me just take a quick peek into your mind, okay?"
She put her hands to my forehead and closed her eyes. I expected memories to come flooding back to me, but they didn't.
Ms. Goldstein started writing notes on a clip board. "Okay," she mumbled to herself, "Smart, fast, insecure, but that can be fixed, and outbreaks when mad, sad or angry, okay. That's a minor issue, hmm." She looked up from her notes. "Sweetie could you pass your paper please?" I nodded and reached into my pocket and handed it to her. She quickly examined it, then put it face down onto the table. "Now, show me what you got." I stood up and took a deep breath. I concentrated and sparks flew out of my hands. I steady myself and turn the sparks into a ray of electricity. I then formed it into a ray of light, then into a lightning bolt and hurled it upwards, burning a hole in the celinh. I flew upwards and did a couple loop de loops, then sat down.
"You may leave now," Ms. Goldstien nodded. I stood up and left the room. I went back to the examination room and everyone was lined I up at the door, so I quickly joined them. We walked outside, and waited. I found Ana and Angelica
"How did it go?" Ana asked. "I think I did well."
Angelica shrugged. "I don't know. The robotics questions were kinda hard. How bout the examination? Weird, huh?"
I nodded, "That went good. I showed Ms. Goldstien a few basic tricks." I showed them what I did. Then I remembered we had never told each other about our powers.
Ana smiled, " Wow! Here's what I did." She rolled up her slevees and extended her hands. Color bursted out of them. I gasped. Ana formed the color into a rainbow, then made it disappear.
Angelica clapped, " Cool! This is what I did." Angelica flew around then brought her hands to a bruise on my arm. A warm glow emerged from her hands and covered the bruise. A couple seconds later, it was gone. Angelica bowed.
"Ohh I do hope we all are on the same floor!" I said. Your floor level was based off of your grade on the test.
"Me too!" Ana and Angelica chimed in.
The vans arrived. My name was called to be in a separate van than Ana and Angelica, so we quickly exchanged phone numbers. I said goodbye and hopped into the car.
I arrived home and walked inside. Luna was toddling around. Her long blue hair was messy and her bluesh gray eyes gleamed. She would turn three soon. After that, it's important that someone is watching her, because three is when powers start to develop. My dad and I suspect that Luna has weather manipulation, but is is hard to me sure. Mom had flight. Dad has electrokinises. I have both. I sat down on the couch. Dad was washing the dishes. When he saw me, he put them down and hugged me.
"How did it go sweetheart?" he asked
I told him everything that happened, down to the tiniest detail.
"I really hope to get in!" I exclaimed.
Dad said, "I bet you will be accepted. Your Headmistress said the letters should come in a few weeks. Why don't you go upstairs and take a shower?"
I ran up upstairs and took a shower. I wonder if I did good enough, I thought, I'll have to wait and see.
After my shower, I decided to text Ana.
Robin: Hi
Anastasia: Oh hi! How r u
Robin: Fine. Still nervous
Anastasia: I was wondering, you told me about your sister and dad. what about ur mom?
I saw that coming. It wasn't like she was never going to ask me that.
Robin: my mom died in a storm doing hero work a year ago. My dad takes care of Luna and me.
Anastasia: OMG I am so sorry! I didn't know! I feel awful!
Robin: It's fine. How bout ur family
Anastasia: My mom stays at home. She is having a baby in a month. My dad is a hero and my sister is a brat ;)
Robin: Ha! How did Brooke do onn the test anyways?
Anastasia: IDK.
Robin: My dad said letters should come in a few weeks.
Anastasia: Text u when it comes. Bye
Robin: Bye
It was getting late. I put on a pair of silky white pajamas and braided my hair. I used the bathroom brushed my teeth. I could here dad putting Luna to sleep. I tucked myself into my comfy bed and fell asleep, hoping that the letter would come extra early.
