yes i know that i haven't updated this in like a year I'M SORRY
but i have season 3 theories 🤠
1. Starcourt Mall.
Starcourt obviously plays a HUGE role in season 3, it was in the first promo and now this New Year's trailer says that it's sponsored by Starcourt.
It's the new mall in Hawkins, but the most common theory that I've seen is that it's either built over Hawkins Lab, or that Hawkins Lab owns the mall. I mean, they've got Steve Harrington working there alongside a new character named 'Robin'.
In the New Year's trailer, certain words are highlighted that spell out to say
'When blue and yellow meet in the West.'
Starcourt mall has a clock that has two hands that are yellow and blue, so maybe when they meet on 12:00, something happens? Idk man :/
2. Robin
Robin is the new character introduced this season. We haven't seen much of her, except for the fact that she works alongside Steve at Scoop's Ahoy in the Starcourt mall, and that a Funko Pop of her in her uniform has been released.
She's described to be a "an alternative girl who is bored of her day job, but uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins."
Robin's also been theorized to be Steve's new love interest, after Nancy left him for Jonathan last season.
3. Russian Text
In the New Year's eve trailer, files are run and we see many Russian texts.
Now, last season Murray thought that Eleven was a Russian Spy, and in Hawkins Lab, Eleven was also used as an experiment to spy on Russian conversations ( hence the 'underwater' thing ).
Some of the Russian text has been translated, and one of them says the word 'Eleven' on it, so even though she's not at Hawkins Lab anymore, she's not all the way out of danger.
4. Poster

Mileven is shown in the new poster, quite obviously. Mike and Eleven are holding hands while Eleven looks back at the camera. Lucas and Max are off to the Right side while Will and Dustin are off to the Left.
They are overlooking a city, which doesn't appear to be Hawkins. It's much too bright, and doesn't have the correct buildings.
It could possibly be Chicago, where Eleven ran off to last season, or more likely, it could be California, where Billy and Max are from. It would work with the 'When blue and yellow meet in the West' thing.
Western California, and Mike and Eleven are wearing yellow and blue. Or, Max is also wearing yellow and blue.
The caption is 'One Summer Can Change Everything', and I'm guessing that the Demobitch ( sorry I had to lmao ) comes back, or someone dies.
